The animated proceedings are spiced with John C. Reilly voicing a street singer with a number of embraceable Christmas songs, & this Xmas TV Show length short film feels great for Christmas Eve, to give the family a dose of the Spirit. Who? David Lowery!

As a companion to Le Pupille and The Shepherd, An Almost Christmas Story is my favorite of the three and a shoo-in for consideration during the award season. It’s worth checking out even if you are not in the holiday spirit.

A sweet 25-minute Christmas short with lovely animation, good direction and a heartwarming message about the spirit of the season. And I think it does a good job representing people living with a disability, in this case, a prosthetic leg, without coming off as condescending or pandering. It's not amazing and it has a few moments of unexplained weirdness but An Almost Christmas Story is still a delightful watch for anyone with a Disney Plus account.

*An Almost Christmas Story* is a delightful little gem of a stop-motion Christmas special. At just 25 minutes, it’s the perfect bite-sized holiday treat. Sure, the “trying to get home for Christmas” plot is cliché, but who cares? It’s charming, heartwarming, and packed with that old-school Christmas magic we don’t see enough of anymore. The claymation is fantastic, with every frame oozing personality. It’s funny, sweet, and nails the true meaning of Christmas without feeling cheesy. Specials like this remind us why we fell in love with holiday movies in the first place. We need more like this.

"An Almost Christmas Story" is a sweet and simple holiday tale, told with really cool animation techniques. I think the story is light and short to watch and I think a wide range of audiences can find enjoyment in it. I liked how it made me feel and I found myself genuinely engaged by the main conflicts, which is all I can ask for in a short film. Overall, it is a solid addition to easy-to-watch content around the holidays and shows that there is still creativity for animated stories told around the holidays.
