Blueml (Hans Olden), a Viennese street musician, befriends young orphan Toni (Martin Lojda) and is soon impressed by the boy's singing ability. With the aid of a kindly rector, Blueml gains Toni an audition for the world-renowned Vienna Boys' Choir. Enthralled with finding a place with the choir, Toni is also happy to be near his new friend, Sister Maria (Julia Janssen). When Sister Maria faces an unexpected crisis, Toni comes to her aid, jeopardizing his place with the choir.
