Audience Member Couldn't follow this awful film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member welll this film isnt well executed in the storyline and has flaws but still an ok movie to be honest and it does keep you wanting to know whats going to happen next! Lena Headey is fantastic in this not so good movie but she does steal the film which is good for a brilliant actress! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Killed off the monkey very early on iin the movie which was the only thing keeping me going, then he died so end off! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An insane run through all the evils of merry old England. Part tale of revenge, part ghost story, part morality play, part bash on the churches... but ALL gritty, graphic, and gross. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member In 1384,during the One Hundred Years War,English soldiers return home with the son of a French count,Jacques de Saint Amant( David La Haye),as hostage. They want to trade him for their Seigneur,Sir Walter de Mellerby (Jon Finch),who's been captured in battle in France.Soon after, the people of their village begin to die, with strange words carved into their boil-covered bodies (ANAZAPTA).They fear the Black Death but there are other dark reasons behind these deaths.A very realistic medieval thriller, disgustingly realistic at times (a village covered in mud & muck, poor ignorant people, dirty clothes, mutilations, boils, sores, ulcers, blood, gory violence),an interesting mix of drama, mystery, suspense and a bit of horror, not for the sensible ones...some scenes were hard to swallow.A tale of secrets from the past haunting the God-fearing villagers, their collective guilt, sin, absolution, punishment, curse and revenge. The presence of Lena Headey, her subtle beauty, seems to enhance the dark atmosphere. It reminded me of Flesh+Blood and The Name of the Rose.A good movie, just don't expect a fairy tale...
