Leslie Felperin Guardian Samuel Beckett probably would have found all those montages tedious, but he might have grooved to Anchorage’s underlying nihilism. Rated: 3/5 Aug 28, 2023 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) These two guys are irritating. These two guys are terrible. These two guys you don't like, but that's what makes this movie all the better. Jun 28, 2023 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times Anchorage, like its doomed passengers, might come up short in reaching the intended destination, the existential road to not getting there is nevertheless paved with its share of inescapably persuasive intentions. Jun 16, 2023 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) ... The characters’ volatile relationship and rambling conversations grow monotonous in the absence of other people and varied scenery. Rated: 2/5 Oct 19, 2023 Full Review Andrew Murray The Upcoming Shortcomings aside, Anchorage is a lo-fi, drug-infused road trip through the heart of a decaying America, which shines a spotlight on the love and violence between two brothers. J M Seen it a few times now. It’s one of the best independent films I’ve seen. You just keep picking up more and more with every watch. The dialog is the focus of this dramatic masterpiece. The sound, and at times, lack of sound, helps you feel the long drive from Florida to Alaska. You feel every struggle as you watch. It’s utterly brilliant. It gives the film its own unique tone. The cinematography is solid and the dialog has clever jokes throughout to balance the dark overtones of the film. Overall, it’s a must watch. Highly recommend Anchorage for creatives, dialog lovers, drama fans and deep thinkers. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Nathan K Wow. I feel ripped off. I don't know how this possibly has a 100% critics score. Initially, I thought the acting was terrible, but then I realized it was the writing, or lack thereof. I am convinced that this film didn't have a full script, and that much of it was improvised. This seems like a cool, indie, run-and-gun way to make a film, but rarely yields good results. The exposition in the beginning was heavy handed. For a road trip movie, they didn't seem to go anywhere. I understand that it was shot in five day. It kind of felt like it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review Suzanne H It was unlike anything I've ever seen in my life and although stressful, I couldn't take my eyes off it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Natalia C Great film created by really talented men! A must see! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review erroll f I expected more from this low budget downer film. When you see 100% from the critics, you think wow this is going to be something there to watch. When in fact the whole film focuses on two drug Riddled Brothers and their love-hate relationship. Oh yes, and there's the desert with the ghost towns , it much do about very little. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Ben B Love this film! A story about brotherhood, the American dream, and the effects of drug abuse. Brought to life by fantastic performances from actor/director Scott Monahan and writer/actor Dakota Loesch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
