Audience Member I feel like writing a strongly worded letter of complaint to New World Pictures or filing a law suit for false advertisement. The cover has Gary Busy solo with an uzi. The film has him as a hippy with just a bit part. It had an interesting premise with a gang of biker's overstaying their welcome on a hippy commune. This had the potential for a classic turn of the tables vigilante flick. Instead it's just a distorted mess with a few sufer looking chicks getting their bangers out. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This biker film is best known as the first film written by Jonathan Demme and containing the first prominent screen roles for Scott Glenn and Gary Busey. Glenn plays the leader of a trio of Hell's Angels (one of whom is James Iglehart from "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls") who hook up with another bike gang the Dragons, who have been hanging out in an abandoned ghost town with a group of hippies. When one of the hippie girls is raped and murdered by one of the Dragons, the leader of the Dragons hangs the crime on Glenn and sets out to punish them. A reasonably entertaining biker flick packed with violence and nudity ... pretty much what one should expect. You can get this on any number of PD DVDs, but you're better off just watching it on YouTube since the quality is abysmal. This was rumoured to be coming out as part of Shout Factory's Roger Corman Classics series, but it has yet to surface. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member This piece of 70's exploitation, low grade Easy Rider wanna be won me over with its pulpy look and classic exploitation lines like "we're gonna kill you now, you dig" Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I couldn't even finish this movie. And even though Busey is on the front lines, he seems to portray a secondary role, not entering the film until well after it was established. For a biker flick, Busey, you are not as hard as they come. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Inspired by Easy Rider, this early 70s movie follow a gang of bikers. Led by Scott Glenn, they join a hippie commune in the desert. After a young female resident is murdered, the bikers are blamed and must fight for their freedom. Hard to follow, not the least helped by the poor transfer to DVD. It was more likely taken from an old VHS tape than an actual film negative. Do not be fooled by the box, the art was probably stolen from other sources. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member When my girlfriend & I first started dating we went to rent some flix and she came to me w/ a movie (I think it was Hider in the House) muttering the phrase "how can it be bad; it has Gary Busey in it?" I laughed my ass off hearing that the first time but over the years I actually used it as a denfense to movies I rent blind because of his 'star power'. Well Gary Busey is in Angels Hard As They Come but he doesn't really add anything to an already decently sleazy biker flix. In fact it could have done w/out him completely (maybe replacing him w/ some lighting might have helped a little) but rather AHATC would be nothing (or @ least very little) w/out Charles Dierkop as mad biker General. Looking further into Dierkop's career I noticed that he played the original Santa killer in Silent Night Deadly Night so I think 'my' new saying might be "how can it be bad; it has Charles Dierkop in it?" since now Im actively searching out other films in his catalog (maybe it's even time for The Hot Box again) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
