Audience Member It might not have much of a plot and, let's face it, would not be made today given all the ethnic stereotypes on display but the good animation, great comedic timing, nice songs and solid voice acting (hard to believe there were only four VAs) make Animalympics a fairly solid made-for-TV animated movie that's worth watching solely for the sheer number of recognisable names if you're an animation enthusiast. Not only is it from the director of the groundbreaking Tron but it also has one of two of the future directors of The Lion King and, in one of the earliest projects he worked on, Brad Bird as two of the credited animators, just to name a few people. It's honestly the future talent that was involved that makes Animalympics fun to watch. It's not a masterpiece and I think the thematically similar Surf's Up* handled this unique structure better but it's still a fun parody of the Olympics in its own right. *An animated sports comedy presented in an unconventional narrative structure as if what we're seeing is actually happening. Surf's Up is closer to a documentary than Animalympics but I did get similar vibes to SPA's first of only three Oscar-nominated movies when I was watching the directorial debut of the guy who made Tron. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Fun fun fun. Great design, animation, and writing. They don’t make em like this anymore:) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/21 Full Review Audience Member I think since I co-wrote this animated film and did many voices on it, my name should be included in the voice over credits! What do you think? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly good animated movie although dated now. Billy Crystal and The Simpsons own Harry Shearer voicing the characters. Amazing music score from 10CC's Graham Gouldman. Now available on Bluray but under the name Dschungel Olympiade... Animals.... at the Olympics????... I saw it when I was a kid, now able to show my grandkids. The animators going on to projects like The Lion King, and Tron, Don't let this movie disappear. Its animated heritage. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review william k Lively, but only partially entertaining spoof, since the individual episodes vary in quality and length. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review darth darth b A hilarious sendup of competition in its various forms, portrayed by stereotyped animals with heart to spare.
