John Form (Ward Horton) thinks he's found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia (Annabelle Wallis) : a vintage doll in a beautiful white dress. However, the couple's delight doesn't last long: One terrible night, devil worshippers invade their home and launch a violent attack against the couple. When the cultists try to summon a demon, they smear a bloody rune on the nursery wall and drip blood on Mia's doll, thereby turning the former object of beauty into a conduit for ultimate evil.

The beginning and end of this movie are the standout moments, while the rest of the film is slow and monotonous. It’s unfortunate because I had high expectations for this movie. Instead of delivering anything truly worthwhile, it’s a constant barrage of explanations. There were some solid scares, but overall, this movie is a slow and unremarkable experience.

I truly enjoyed a lot about this movie. I love the cinematography and the layout of the film. I think the character building was so good to the point where I felt the devastation of the events in the movie. The overall scariness of the movie was realistic enough for me to feel it. Good, classic watch.
