Audience Member Kang's follow up to his cult-classic original takes a more ethical standpoint and the altering of the original formula results in a more serious piece that scrapes the surface of a more sinister underbelly in Korean society. As a film however it falls short, not the worst crime with many sequels made unable to outdo their predecessor. The typecast of the corporate bad guy is hard to bed down and the "promotion" of the main character Kang Chul Jung from hardline cop to prosecutor removes much of the essence that made the original what it was. This is a solid enough sequel but those fans of the original will definitiely miss the politically incorrect profanity filled script and not to mention the gratuitious violence. Kang's directorial style remains constant and the cameos from existing characters adds a nice jolt of flavour to this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member It's been a while since the first movie, but this was not linked whatsoever, watcheable on its own. Nicely done simple crime thriller... the law clearly has its limitations, I can imagine how much its been exploited and bent by the rich and powerful. A good watch overall, shows how a good combo of acting and directing can go a long way, compared to fancy schmancy nothings. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Lame cop drama with a few action scenes. Not worth seeing the whole movie for them. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member great actor in the lead..entertaining and gripping drama..see public enemy first...top rate enjoyment to watch! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member An interesting sequel to 2002's Public Enemy features some of the same actors playing different characters, while the film share some of the same overarching themes as the original. Sul Kyung-Ku plays a public prosecutor in this film, a sharp contrast to the off-the-handle cop he played in the first. This sets the tone for the film with far less action than the first, which initially discouraged me as I was watching this. However, the common themes make up for the lack of action as this is more of a cerebral action as the prosecutor seeks to bring down a corrupt man whom he knows committed a crime (just like in Public Enemy 1). The themes are very relevant to modern times as these are public figures who use their power and money to get their way, while the law-abiding citizens are bound by these very laws and can't touch them. In the end, the prosecutors fly in the face of danger and put it all out on the line to finally take down Han Sang-Woo (Jeong Jun-Ho). A little long at almost 2 and a half hours but ultimately satisfying in the end. I enjoyed the original more but this one delivers with it's themes of good vs corruption. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member a good film with differet story and cast 2 oringal film less action then the first but has a lot more drama.
