Audience Member A workable documentary, but not of high interest value if you're not too familiar with his work. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member a very beautiful documentary of how a photographer captures the soul of others while losing his own in the so-called celebrity world... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member an inspiring and exposed look at how Anton's personal life has led to his talent as a great photographer Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member tolle doku über einen tollen künstler Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member As much as I love Anton Cobijns photography, this documentary is terrible. Yes, it gives insights to the mans past and yes, it shows some of his creative process at work, but even with a cracking soundtrack by Gavin Friday and some of his past collaborations with Depeche Mode, U2 and Joy Division, it comes over rather slow and dull. The filmmaker Klaartje Quirijns tries to copy Corbijns style, but takes too long to explain or show the material that the audience is watching this for. A wasted opportunity. Jessica Kiang indieWire [It] takes a more impressionistic, intimate approach to the celebrated photographer and filmmaker, and in the process creates a thoughtful film that is as much an homage to the creative process as it is a tribute to a man. Rated: B+ Dec 11, 2019 Full Review Noel Murray The Dissolve Anton Corbijn Inside Out is damnably stingy with expert analysis of Corbijn's art...There's no attempt to organize the events of Corbijn's life into a chronology, or to trace his evolution as an image-maker. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 20, 2013 Full Review Russell Ford Little White Lies Almost, but not quite the one. Rated: 2/5 Sep 13, 2012 Full Review Lee Marshall Screen International An intriguing portrait of a photographer and filmmaker who is deeply immersed in the culture and iconography of stardom yet is himself an intensely private, emotionally reticent man... Dec 11, 2019 Full Review Naila Scargill Trebuchet Inside Out attempts a look at who the man is, truly believing itself as presenting some insight. To a degree, yes, but the documentary is ultimately unfulfilling, choosing just one aspect of his personality to stretch to feature-length. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Daniel Green CineVue What could have been a self-serving 'slap on the back' for an already hugely successful visual auteur turns out to be a surprisingly moving, delicately layered portrait of an artist as a middle-aged man.
