What to Know

Critics Consensus

Apartment 7A is slickly assembled and solidly acted, but the lingering memory of Rosemary's Baby and a predictable prequel template make for a sub(par)lease.

Siddhant Adlakha Variety A mostly-solid film that captures the anxieties of the current moment. Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) ... A diverting appendix to an indisputable classic. Rated: 3/5 Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast What ensues is the exact same thing that happened to Mia Farrow’s wife, except minus the creepy surprise and, thus, any reason to pay attention. Sep 27, 2024 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India Despite strong performances, the film lacks novelty and largely follows the same trajectory as its predecessor. Rated: 3/5 Feb 14, 2025 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …with a number of characters and situations recurring from Rosemary’s Baby, Apartment 7A traces evil back to the post WWII generation and still feels relevant to today’s apocalyptic fashions….Julia Garner does a great job in evoking Farrow’s iconic role. Rated: 4/5 Feb 3, 2025 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof …A worthy little sister from 'The First Prophecy', which poses an elegance in direction that should not be dismissed right away. Lincoln D A solid, and scary film but not enough spark to make the best horror film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Jeffrey P Well performed all around with good suspense and tension that is at times uneasy in the many layers, with dreamlike hallucinatory horror among them. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Avindu G There's many references by critiques to the sequel that came out five and a half decades ago and Apartment 7A sure doesn't seem to be in a competition to outdo it's successor. But it's a period drama portraying real life horrors of the unprivileged women in a time where self-esteem was subjected to a painfully tedious capital punishment. Terry's horrors are real and makes the audience uncomfortable and nervous for that Julia's sincere performance was essential. Terry's character even the slight limp was well maintained by the producers. Great work by the supporting cast too. Flawless visuals and color tones just shady enough to bring the cold of Bramford. Great audio effects and music. Apartment 7A must not close it doors after this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Rennae A This is a *prequel* to Rosemary's Baby! It’s not just a good movie—it’s a great movie. Anyone calling it dull or saying it 'doesn’t go anywhere' clearly isn’t thinking about the bigger picture. This film is setting the stage for what’s to come, and it does so brilliantly. This movie doesnt end here, you need to then watch Rosemary's baby! I absolutely loved it. And that ending? Completely badass, and almost poetic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Audience Member Ok I loved this movie but thought it would have been SO BADASS if she finally gave in and embraced the fact that she’s birthing satan and fed off of the power and love of the “evil people” and suddenly they became the safe ones to her. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Kinda wanted to see a demon birth but I guess I’ll have to watch the Democratic National Conventjon instead Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
