Apollo 17 was the last U.S.-sponsored lunar voyage -- or was it? Hours of found footage, classified for decades, point to a subsequent moon mission -- Apollo 18 -- that ended very badly. Astronauts John Grey (Ryan Robbins), Nathan Walker (Lloyd Owen) and Benjamin Anderson (Warren Christie), on a mission to install radar scanners, discover a Soviet space capsule nearby. The men also discover a dead cosmonaut, and unfortunately for them, learn how he died.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A boring, suspense-free Paranormal Activity rip-off that feels long even at just 90 minutes.

A simple sci-fi horror with just enough scares to keep you interested. Go to Full Review

Apollo 18 is an intriguing, if never enthralling, fusion of period space-flight procedural, conspiracy theory, and monster movie. Go to Full Review

Watching people land on the moon isn't all that interesting or photogenic, especially when we know it's pretend. Go to Full Review

Strong characters and rewarding narratives are rarely developed in “found footage” movies, so when the shocks and gross-out moments occur, the audience can’t be blamed for feeling uninvolved. Go to Full Review

I found “Apollo 18” to be a fun little movie that uses and incorporates the found footage style in a slick and fresh fashion. It does have some issues but it also has some great moments wrapped into its tight 88 minute running time. Go to Full Review

Adam P 3d A nice addition to the found footage horror/et genre. A good mix of horror elements that work. An unknown Apollo mission is a good option for mixing found footage with space. Acting was good, visuals matched with existing Apollo footage, storyline was entertaining. A solid 3-3.5 star film. Definitely worth a watch. See more Paul B Sep 30 Great use of historical references, and the camera angles do it justice of making it a "found footage" style film. See more j w Jul 27 Wow it's a horrid ripoff of the Blair witch format. The constant flash cuts, astronauts whose lighting system seems to only work in strobe flash mode in the dark. I am hate watching it to the end. Just when you think it couldn't get worse the ending took it to a whole new low See more Bryan S Jun 2 Blair Alien Project, poorly done. See more Daniel N Apr 28 Found this quite creepy and entertaining the first time through but once you know the plot it loses its shine. See more Orlando C @orrman Jan 24 Surprisingly good movie. Have had this one on the back-burner for years due to all the negative reviews from both critics and audience. Well I'm happy to report, those negative reviews are WRONG. But let me preface the rest of this brief review with this: Do you like your sci-fi/horror more along the lines of Armageddon or War of the Worlds? Then this movie won't work for you. Do you despise found footage genre films? Then this movie won't work for you. I think those are the two biggest critiques of this movie. People needing something to blow up or someone get stabbed every 10 minutes or a bias against the found footage genre. The former explains most of the audience reviews and the latter, definitely the critics reviews. I remember the huge backlash against found footage movies in the early 2010s. Everybody was so indignant - no more found footage! Everybody wants to do a Blair Witch knockoff! Well, if you like your sci-fi/horror movies more measured and tension building. And you have an open-mind about the found footage genre - or any genre for christ-sake - you'll be pleasantly surprised with this little nugget 😃. See more Read all reviews
