Apollo 17 was the last U.S.-sponsored lunar voyage -- or was it? Hours of found footage, classified for decades, point to a subsequent moon mission -- Apollo 18 -- that ended very badly. Astronauts John Grey (Ryan Robbins), Nathan Walker (Lloyd Owen) and Benjamin Anderson (Warren Christie), on a mission to install radar scanners, discover a Soviet space capsule nearby. The men also discover a dead cosmonaut, and unfortunately for them, learn how he died.

Critics Consensus

A boring, suspense-free Paranormal Activity rip-off that feels long even at just 90 minutes.

Kim Newman Empire Magazine A simple sci-fi horror with just enough scares to keep you interested. Rated: 3/5 Sep 23, 2011 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle Apollo 18 is an intriguing, if never enthralling, fusion of period space-flight procedural, conspiracy theory, and monster movie. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 9, 2011 Full Review Chuck Bowen Slant Magazine Watching people land on the moon isn't all that interesting or photogenic, especially when we know it's pretend. Rated: 1/4 Sep 6, 2011 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Strong characters and rewarding narratives are rarely developed in “found footage” movies, so when the shocks and gross-out moments occur, the audience can’t be blamed for feeling uninvolved. Rated: 2/4 Mar 8, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies I found “Apollo 18” to be a fun little movie that uses and incorporates the found footage style in a slick and fresh fashion. It does have some issues but it also has some great moments wrapped into its tight 88 minute running time. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The only thing worse than an inept filmmaker is a lazy one. Rated: 1.0/4.0 Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Anthony Peter C A fair found footage genre film about a supposed cover-up of an Apollo 18 mission by NASA which never happened. It's well done and not terrifying but has bits of Alien and a Twilight Zone episode wrapped into one. Unfortunately the clarity of the cameras betrays the believability that the film could have come from the late 1960s, but the actors perform admirably and the suspense rides high up on the dark side of the moon. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review William G I thought it was excellent, if you like sci-fi mixed with the Apollo program. Made it feel real, the way it was filmed was like the Blair Witch project. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Laura S Although rather dull and slow moving, it still had an absolutely brilliant concept. The filmmakers successfully re-created the 1960s so well that I thought it was some sort of documentary at first. But then once something moved outside the shuttle, it was obviously just a movie. The storyline was excellent, but why make the "extraterrestrials" look similar to the ones in other movies? There were footprints outside, not made by astronaut footwear, yet the aliens did not in any way, shape or form match these prints. The monster should have been a single hostile E.T that wanted them gone from it's territory instead of a bunch of rock spider things infecting humans. That's been done SO much. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/24 Full Review Stuart R It’s acceptable for what it does as the low-budget, found-footage space-horror it is, but other than that, the film has no buildup or tension, and no concrete story or pacing. I was checking the time every 10 minutes. - Mixed 🍀 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/30/24 Full Review Tom S Started off with some real promise & then turned to silly. Blair With Project goes to the moon but at least that film was original. Plus why not just rip off Alien while you're at it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Matt T It's a fun film if you enjoy outer space and the niche corner of the Horror Genre it inhabits. The sound and visual teams deserve a good pat on the back for their work, as their work really makes it feel like you're watching two men struggling to survive on the surface of the moon. The actors too give their level best to make their performances deliver. With a better script and a different director, This could have been a really good film that reached a wider audience. But for what it is, it's a fun spooky romp for space and Sci-fi lovers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
