Audience Member Hannah Hoekstra's performance in this is amazing; she completely carries this movie, and it's a shame she hasn't had more chances to star like this. The plot of App is completely ridiculous, but if you're willing to suspend your disbelief go along with the premise anyway, this is an entertaining and fast-moving story with enough suspense to carry the limited run time. I couldn't get the "second screen" feature to work with my phone, but that's just as well, the movie was fun and complete without it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice job. Imagine an App taking control of your life how crazy and scary is that!? The lengths you would go to try and get rid of that thing, creepy voice ,it controls everything you do. I really liked this film. Bobby Boermans direction was good I got vertigo a few times, thank you. Acting was good here too, thank god. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a spectacular movie, nor one that I would ever be likely to re-watching, but it didn't make me want to turn it off halfway through. The app-integration was a nice idea but underutilized. The plot and story were decent at a glance, but the execution is stuttering and rather than building or revealing things it just suddenly tosses things at you and keeps on running. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty interesting movie... Definitely curved my curiosity about the "App". Damn Iris was a mess and makes one second guess relying so heavily on their device and apps lol. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite a scary and well done movie until close to the end when it get a tad incoherent. The idea of an app taking over your life is of course not that fart fetched. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film from the Netherlands! Thriller suspense movie in vein of The Net and Eagle Eye. Low budget but very good. The lead actress Hannah Hoekstra who by the way looks very much like a cross between Emma Watson & Anne Hathaway, does a great job! Decent popcorn flick! Eric Kohn indieWire While not fully realizing its potential, this rare occasion in which audiences are encouraged to use their phones during the movie is a surprisingly decent stab at something new. May 2, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Not to say there isn't any fun to be had in what serves as the first film to utilize second screen technology, but it's cheap and shallow fun, to be sure. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 30, 2019 Full Review Joe Bendel Epoch Times Much has been made of its 'second screen' component. Fortunately, the film holds up just fine on one screen, because voluntarily downloading IRIS app seems like bad karma. Rated: 3.5/5 May 30, 2016 Full Review Isaac Feldberg We Got This Covered By no stretch of the imagination is App a great movie, but thanks to Hannah Hoekstra's magnetic lead performance, it's a much more wackily enjoyable one than it could have been.
