Replete with thumping horse hooves, the battle cries of lusty men and the banshee screams of the living dead, Raimi's movie comes at you with a noisy, jokey swagger. Its hero even says "groovy" and gets away with it.

Here's the problem: Bruce Campbell's character is a complete stiff, and so is everyone else he meets who isn't a special effect. The result is that we couldn't care less who wins any battle in the movie no matter how inventively photographed.

Out of the Evil Dead franchise this is the only movie that's not oversaturated with blood, gore, & sex. There are some scarish moments in the film. Like when Ash's fighting the monster in the pit. And when Good Ash has to fight Bad Ash. And the battle scene where Ash & King Arthur's men are fighting the deadites. But out of the three movies in the Evil Dead trilogy this one is more comical than the other two. Like when Ash is fighting his mini me's. And the part where Ash has to get the necronomicon. And there are three books. And Ash has to figure out which one is the right one. A lot of the movie is an homage to Ray Harryhausen. Who was One of the best special effects creators Animation & stop motion animation. The other two Evil Dead movies were definitely cult classics. And two of the best horror movies of all time. But this movie you could actually watch with tweens. This movie is not dated. And definitely still holds up today.

Another favorite from back in the day. I remember watching this movie with a bunch of friends. It was a great midnight 🍕 and oregano movie. Everytime I rewatch this movie it takes me back to easy days of my youth.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é ruim, o filme não tem terror, o ash agora é meio fraco, e esse filme destruiu o final do evil dead 2, que ash ti há se tornado o rei dos soldados da idade média por ter matado o vilão, nesse filme colocaram ele de escravo, e de fizeram uma história ruim, com tudo isso, eu não recomendo esse filme.

Most of the scares are gone, but that hole is filled with plenty of comedy to go around. Granted the humor is kind of hit-or-miss, but fortunately the hits are far greater than the misses. Bruce Campbell is charismatic as ever, albeit kind of dickish during the first act. Though seldom, the action scenes are a lot of fun. Not a masterpiece, but a fun conclusion to the Evil Dead trilogy.
