dave d Not a lot of meat on the bone for this knock off of the Before series. It's not as good in any way and it's rather a bore for being 78 minutes. It's slow and plodding and not inventive and often not subtle and very self aware. Not my cup of tea. Final Score: 4/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I’m sure a hopeless romantic would love this 2.6 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/21 Full Review Audience Member Thoughtful, original romance. Great cinematography and acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This reminded me very much of "Before Sunrise" where two strangers meet and have a fascinating, winding conversation about all the things you've always wanted to talk about with someone who is as mutually invested in the conversation as you are. The book "Conversations on the Plurality of Worlds" by Bernard Le Bovier de Fontenelle, published in 1686, is heavily referenced. It is a fascinating take on the universe we call home. Cara Theobold is positively luminous and perfectly suited as a woman in love with the stars. You root for these two to find happiness together, and preferably at this gorgeous French Chateau. The twist at the end was a slight let down, but it doesn't diminish all the conversations before. I want to watch it again. In fact, it spurred in us so much interest in Fontenelle that we immediately bought the book. Sweet, intellectual film worth watching! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Shaun S I saw the premiere of this film at CIFF. It's a beautiful film at its heart and visually. Leslie Felperin Guardian This confident feature debut by British-Greek director Oliver Krimpas, elegantly written by Jonathan Kiefer, is unique, its own special, weird thing that leaves a long, pleasant, earthy aftertaste, like vintage calvados. Rated: 4/5 Jul 30, 2020 Full Review Nadine Whitney AWFJ.org Around the Sun is rich, strange, and beguiling like the universe itself and gives a glance into the ineffable riddle of existence. Sep 24, 2023 Full Review Andrew Kendall Stabroek News Around the Sun is part philosophy discourse, part romance, part science-fiction and a beguiling whole of something unusual and charming. Sep 14, 2020 Full Review Barbara Shulgasser Common Sense Media Quirky romantic drama has some cursing. Rated: 2/5 Aug 17, 2020 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall With just two characters, this small-budget drama has a charming lightness to it, continually revealing smart observations in its puzzle-box narrative.
