Without those redemptive highs or soul-destroying lows to stir the emotions, the overall effect can be a bit numbing, making this a rather forgettable tribute to the countless victims of Soviet oppression.

Its ultimately confused about what it wants to be and who its about, likely leaning too faithfully on its literary inspiration text. But it is an important story to tell, and will hopefully attract attention from a teenage audience.

One sadly portrait of what was the soviet comunist regime occupation on the Baltic republics and the tirany of the red army rules in Lithuania under the orders of Stalin. Great movie. Must watch #Lithuania #Freedom #URSS #Gulags

This adaption is unfortunately bleak and unsatisfying. The potential was wasted with World War II cliches. The film lacks substance compared to the fantastic story it's based on. The plot never gives our characters time to develop. The only thing this movie achieved right was the casting. In conclusion, the inspirational story has been turned into a dull and boring big-screen adaptation! It's not worth watching.
