Longing for excitement, virginal Meg Wheeler (Shirley MacLaine) moves to New York City and immediately gets a job and a wealthy boyfriend based on her looks. When both her boyfriend and boss try to get her into bed, the straight-laced Meg resigns, only to be offered a new job elsewhere because advertising exec Evan (Gig Young) likes her legs. She soon falls for her playboy boss, and asks company president Miles (David Niven) -- who's also Evan's brother -- for help in seducing him.
