I've never heard of this film but gave it a shot because of the cast. It was a compelling movie with a good plot and storyline. Dennis Quaid was superb as usual. It's definitely worth the watch.

Ramin Bahrani's knack for shedding light in shades prompted subtle hefts lingers to wonder in addition to established parallels, his sense of pessimistic realism irrationally gone melodramatic that leaves a depressing taste, even with the nice cast feeling mutual about that in their minimal convictions with awkward prolongs. (B-)

If I hadn't loved the movie first, from seeing it rated 4/4 by Roger Ebert, a critic I trust, I'd have gone only as far as the first race. Still, it dissapointed me in it's frivolities, the sketchiness of it's heros, and inspite of that terrifying and defining moment towards the end, the movie wasn't as pathetic as it's premise could have been with a little less care and deviation and melodrama. I don't know, one of those half-cooked films that almost worked.

Unpopular movie because it is so blunt about fathers and sons. It is an excellent analysis of modern times. The main character played by Dennis Quaid does everything to keep his show on the road, but what is the cost of this? For society, critics and even movie studios, I imagine the message of this film is a challenging to observe - because. in a way. they are like the main character - but if you can it is a very powerful film.

This movie was so horrible it has me questioning Dennis Quads financial issues. Did he just want to act with Zac Efron? I'm a Dennis Quad fan but this movie is definitely questionable. It has so many story lines that go NOWHERE! Ugh. Not worth the time. I actually purchased the dvd from a store closing for .29 cents and would like my money back.
