Could nuclear energy be the solution to the climate crisis? ATOMIC HOPE, which is directed by the award-winning filmmaker Frankie Fenton (It's Not Yet Dark) and produced by Kathryn Kennedy for Kennedy Films (My Name is Emily, It's Not Yet Dark), explores this very question. The film is an observational documentary which follows a tiny group of highly unpopular "pro-nuclear" activists who controversially believe we now need to urgently re-address our feelings on nuclear power if we are to have any hope of decarbonizing our energy systems before the effects of catastrophic climate change wreak havoc.

Tara Brady Irish Times [The] film swims against the tide. He knows exactly what Atomic Hope has to say and he has assembled a splendid ensemble to do the talking. Rated: 4/5 Feb 15, 2023 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety A slick globe-trotting documentary that holds attention, yet doesn’t really leave the viewer more enlightened on the subject at hand than they were before. May 4, 2022 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Atomic Hope is intriguing as a portrait of a movement, but falls well short as an interrogation of a scientific proposition. Rated: 2/5 Jun 22, 2023 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) ... A useful summary of the green arguments for keeping nuclear power plants up and running. Rated: 3/5 Mar 2, 2023 Full Review Hilary A White Sunday Independent (Ireland) A timely and stimulating film that shows us a very human side to a subject we’d rather ignore. S C More and more people are talking about nuclear power because of the need to decarbonize. This documentary talks to the people involved, and gives an idea of why they're doing what they do It's not about nuclear power, it's about the people in the conversation This film gives a perspective that is hard to find anywhere else. I think it would be of immense interest to any type of activist, because you don't often get such a complete look at an activist movement, and having been involved in a few myself, I was deeply impacted by this film and seeing the subjects grow over such a long period of time For average people wanting to understand the climate change and energy transition movements better, watching this would be invaluable Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
