Robert C An hour of time I can't get back. Rob Lowe was cringe at best. The cliche and tropes are real but this short "film" followed one of the biggest (not discussed in the film) trope and that is fitting too much into to little time rushing everything as fast as possible. I would love to never see this again. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/25/23 Full Review Rhys M A documentary that seems from its premise to be fun and carefree. As it goes on though you'll see bitter and hateful comments about white people in movies which is pretty staggering. For a while, the interviewees are very lighthearted about their opinions on different cliches but as soon as the ‘white saviours' segment comes up it turns bitter and hateful with comment like: ‘I don't care about white people and their problems. Save yourself from this hateful leftist propaganda. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Marc Z If you like movies and enjoy the historical development of films this is a super-fun, fast paced, and compact engagement of your time. Rob Lowe does a fun job hosting and guiding us on a tour of Hollywood Cliches through film clips and guest commentators. The fun is how many movie scenes they manage to pack into this 1 hour show. It is really fun, in my opinion, but I am a movie nut. I hope for more in the series. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Anastasia G Very entertaining! If you love cinema, it's fun to watch. I wish they created series: one cliche-one episode like they did on swear words. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/23 Full Review Eric R A quirky little documentary filled with not a lot of tangible information anyone who watches movies wouldn't know already. Lowe is a bit dry and it does take a bit of a political turn halfway through - not every movie needs to push an agenda - but it was entertaining so there's that. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing here that you aren't familiar with, and that's the whole point. A fun and irreverent look at the tropes we all know and love. Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Rob Lowe takes us on a diverting jaunt through the tried and tired formulaic screenwriting tricks; from the "meet cute" to the "maverick cop" to the "talking to tombstones" scene. Rated: 3/4 Oct 6, 2021 Full Review Graeme Tuckett Stuff.co.nz [A] breezy one-hour special... If you wondered exactly why Spike Lee stormed out of the room when the Oscar went to the all-white producers of Green Book a few years ago, look no further. Oct 29, 2021 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine Analyzes the permanence of politically correct ideas or Hollywood's perception of them, anyway, while confronting other artistic choices. [Full Review in Spanish] Rated: 7/10 Oct 26, 2021 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said A highly entertaining "one-off" look at the dozens of bare-faced movie tropes we've endured as a society over the past 100 plus years. Oct 12, 2021 Full Review Jim Schembri jimschembri.com Due tribute is paid to the seminal influence of Dirty Harry and the cliché-defying Jackie Chan, and we get nice nuggets of film history...Where would we be without montages, an editing technique pioneered in Battleship Potemkin and perfected in Rocky IV?
