Chris Chang Film Comment Magazine Everything that takes place feels so deliberately orchestrated that the seeming meaninglessness of certain actions become charged with, er, "meaning." Jun 17, 2013 Full Review Trevor Johnston Time Out Rated: 3/5 Jan 22, 2013 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian This does not have the humanity and accessibility of The Death of Mr Lazarescu, but it certainly has a dark, lowering presence on the screen. Rated: 3/5 Nov 8, 2012 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row It never once feels like a three hour long movie - it simply exists as an unnerving, and wholly lived in, moment in time. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 5, 2019 Full Review Daniel Green CineVue Though never quite reaching the same existentialist zenith of some of his highly regarded contemporaries, Puiu has nevertheless constructed a drama of significant heft and impact. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Martin Tsai Critic's Notebook It seems that without the sociopolitical baggage, the Romanian new wave can be vacuous and vapid indeed. Audience Member Three hours and 3 minutes that I will NEVER GET BACK!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Slightly suspenseful, but extremely slow. Ending leaves you disappointed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Three hours of magnificent Romanian cinema with lovely attention to detail. An intriguing, masterfully mundane and mesmerising tale of murder with an exceptionally amusing climax of ridiculous realism. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review andrei d Merita vazut dar e prea lung si putin cam prea dens, chiar daca Puiu e definitia lui scary good Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a rather divisive film. Some people call it bullshit, others calling it brilliant. I can see the argument for both. I have not seen the director's previous film "The Death of Mr. Lazarescu" (I still plan to see it). This one's an interesting one if not totally successful. This is about a man who goes crazy, buys a gun and kills a few people for reasons that are unclear though one can extrapolate a few. The film is pretty much a very slow burn with vry little pay-off so it was tough to get through but it has some good moments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Incredibly long and demanding. Sometimes it gets difficult to get through it's 3 hour run time. It will test your patience. Overall it's an ok film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
