Run Lola Run meets Gran Torino; breathtakingly fast-moving, a very well-made thriller. Go to Full Review

[Bryan] Brown uses his capacity for stillness with great effect, to suggest weight in his character. Go to Full Review

It holds a mirror up to contemporary Australian society and offers those unfamiliar with its tensions a relatively factual dramatic experience. Go to Full Review
Andrew F. Peirce The Curb 04/04/2020
Australia Day doesn't feel like it's a film that's actually got anything constructive to say. It wants to present a broken society by holding a mirror up to what's going on, ... but the mirror is shattered. Go to Full Review
Tara Judah Desist Film 01/24/2019
Taking one of the most loaded terms in Australian history as its titular provocation, Australia Day asks us to think about what one might be running towards - and whether ineffective systemic management of inbred injustice can amount to anything more... Go to Full Review

This is a busy film... perhaps too much so. I like things "thick and fast" but with so many storylines, there's not a lot of time to question the actions of these characters. Go to Full Review

Angela C Feb 11 Made in 2017, Australia Day already feels a bit dated in terms of how it presents society, & yet the debate continues about the national holiday.. The film has some racial clichés, but also some quite raw, emotional scenes showing empathy & understanding between different people suffering in different ways. Miah Madden as April the central character is very good, as is Jenny Wu as Lan Chan, the trafficked woman.. actually all the performances are good. A great running beginning.. See more Lou M Jan 29 I’m an Australian who doesn’t usually like Australian films mainly because the same old actors keep getting recycled. This is an exception. Bryan Brown is good as always but the rest of the cast were new to me so it was refreshing to see other talent. Good storyline, very on point for Australia, good cast, filming etc. overall a solid movie worth the watch. See more 08/01/2024 Worst movie I have ever watched. The story line is provocative and wrong. See more chaban r 07/30/2024 Captivating from start to finish. A busy move with multiple story lines however each narrative has a reason to keep you hooked. A controversial yet honest insight into how some Australians experience Australia. See more Katie D 06/01/2024 Heart thumping, gut wrenching storyline's. Casting and acting is top notch. Absolutely recommend worth watching. See more 05/23/2022 Australia Day is a fine film which is presented in a great way. Like other critics, it is not a big box office, blockbuster film. Cleary went over my expectations, and it was worth watching. See more Read all reviews
