Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times Mistaking moody poses for storytelling, the Iceland-set "Autumn Lights" gathers an international assortment of insufferable ciphers in a remote coastal town. Oct 20, 2016 Full Review Brian Welk Village Voice An eerie drama of secrets that demonstrates how a lonely setting can play upon the emotions. Oct 20, 2016 Full Review Carson Lund Slant Magazine The film is like a landlocked Bergman chamber drama divested of any ambivalence regarding human relationships. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 18, 2016 Full Review Kyle Aaronson PopMatters What remains are the bones of a decent genre flick, with the aspirations of a Nicolas Winding Refn film. Perhaps Aulakh will get there one day, but there are several kinks to smooth first. Rated: 4/10 Oct 27, 2016 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher Dead and absent women cause a man to have feels, but in an ethereal way, you know, with 'artistic' female nudity and nonsensical pseudophilosophical dialogue. Rated: 1/5 Oct 26, 2016 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com It's a museum piece with respectable craftsmanship but little life, reserved only for viewers with a particular Euro-style cinema fetish and access to a very comfortable seat. Audience Member Great movie. Loved all the characters, new and old. I recommend to watch it !! I can bet you'll love it just as much as I did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Autumn Lights: Attractive, wealthy and largely self-interested characters deliver bland dialogue, have a bit of sex and drink at dinner parties. Yes, the cinematography is lovely, but it's Iceland -- what else would one expect? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This turned out to be a really great movie. Couldn't shake it a while after seeing it. Compelling writing! Interesting choice for a first feature director. And top notch performances by the leads Guy Kent, Marta Gastini, and Sveinn Olafur Gunnarsson. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful, what-lies-underneath kind of drama. Smart dialogue, excellent performances, strong direction. The kind of story that kept me guessing with an outcome I didn't see coming. If you enjoy movies with soul, wisdom and style, you'll love 'Autumn Lights'. Five stars for a beautiful film I did not see coming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
