Audience Member This is a pretty good gag. The film starts where most possession tales end, after the possessed is freed from the demon and goes on some strange, twisted turns. Not all of them are that good and the ending tries to make sense against all odds but the whole thing is a nice ride. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review ed t Great premise. Wasn't very funny. Wasn't horrifying. I lost interest. Turned it off midway which is very rare for me. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/22 Full Review Audience Member It was hilarious and great to see Carol Kane again. It tipped a bit feminist agenda again. Oh well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review farah r It's an interesting take on demon possession that fails due to bad execution. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A cool, unique spin on a tired genre. It's funny, high concept and I wish we could get more fresh takes on possession movies like this. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/05/19 Full Review Audience Member More of a thriller than the traditional possession movies. The premise is a girl going to demon possession AA, and is kind of an allegory for addiction. Not really a comedy but much “lighter” than I expected and a good Netflix stream. Devan Coggan Entertainment Weekly Krause's deadpan wit, coupled with the inspired scenes at Spirit Possessions Anoymous, make Ava's Possessions a fun, fresh take on a genre staple. Rated: B- Mar 4, 2016 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times A goofy horror movie with little to say and not a lot to see, "Ava's Possessions" sacrifices scares in favor of a rambling addiction metaphor that never finds an emotional rhythm. Mar 3, 2016 Full Review Rob Staeger Village Voice Jordan Galland's Ava's Possessions begins where most demonic-possession movies end. Mar 1, 2016 Full Review Allen Almachar The MacGuffin [Jordan Galland's] handle on the material and the way he presents it shows talent in setting mood and atmosphere. Rated: B- Jul 16, 2020 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See Ava's Possessions is a unique film and worth a look for horror fans. A clever twist on the possession narrative, it illustrates that not every exorcism movie has to follow the same arc. Rated: B Jul 3, 2020 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue It veers into conventional horror and feel-good territory, gradually losing its edge. Apr 3, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews
