Suzi Feay Financial Times With the goddesses Amy [Winehouse] and Whitney [Houston], we watched, appalled, from a distance; but with Tim Bergling, it feels as though the world lost a friend. Audience Member As someone whose exposure to Avicii mostly consisted of hearing him at parties in college, this movie was the first time I found out about the artist's struggles with his mental state & touring. It was frustrating to see so many of the people around him pushing him to do stuff that was so clearly something he didn't want to do. It makes sense that someone so young, and so shy, didn't have the confidence to much sooner say, yeah, this aggressive touring life isn't something I want to do. Given the optimistic ending, the timing of his recent suicide leaves me with a sense of confusion and a feeling that there may be things that we yet did not find out about the artist. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member For fans of Avicii, this documentary is like the Holy Grail. It's his life story not based on an autobiography, or in someone else's words... it's his story straight from his mouth, with private video recordings to boot. That's really special. Being a big fan of him, watching this was bittersweet... it was amazing to go on that journey with him, but at the same time it's very melancholic and your heart feels empty a bit because you know how the story is going to end. But I'm absolutely grateful that he decided to record so much of his private life, which in turn gave us a much better and deeper understanding/connection to him. The world is so lucky for having Avicii for as long as we did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I was not sure what to expect but I am so glad I watched this documentary. As a DJ I can completely relate to the entire movie. The drive to work, eventually being killed with too much work, stress before shows, alcohol, a search for happiness, and just bottoming out. Awesome documentary! Sad to see one of the greats go. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/19 Full Review Peter Z Good doco about a shy guy, full of anxieties, yet the world at his feet, searching for meaning, he couldn't find it. It was a sad end, God rest his soul. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/06/19 Full Review Read all reviews
