Audience Member Best movie and iconic hit movie world wide. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Despite being incredibly far-fetched, this is one of my favorite Bollywood flicks that I have seen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Mike M Gets much less interesting when the focus shifts away from the judge and the bandit, and towards the relationship that blossoms between the boy and his childhood friend, a trainee advocate, partly as it's just another story of forbidden love across the class divide, partly as both Kapoor and Nargis now appear too old to convince as capering young lovers - though you can see how audiences of the time might have responded to the coy eroticism of the latter changing behind a windbreaker and accusing her companion of savagery for taking a sneaky peek at her. Some of it is still striking today: stay tuned for the one-of-a-kind dream sequence that fuses Gene Kelly, Aleister Crowley and Dr. Seuss, and threatens to use up all the dry ice in Mumbai. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/08/09 Full Review Audience Member Oh, the melodrama! :D Man, this is what you call a classic film. So predictable, so cliche, so fake, so AWESOME! Ok ok, so probably no one laughed their heads off when this movie was first released... it was probably one of the first few 'talkie' films in India. Great editing for the 50's. :) Loved it.
