Linda Marric HeyUGuys Away offers its audience a highly ambitious story revolving around themes of loss, guilt and redemption. Rated: 3/5 May 11, 2017 Full Review Niall Browne Movies in Focus Away is small film which has a lot going for it. Set in a wintery Blackpool, David Blair's drama focuses on the friendship between widower Joseph (Timothy Spall) and Juno Temple's Rita, a prostitute on the run from her violent pimp (Matt Ryan). Rated: 4/5 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Jennifer Heaton Alternative Lens The amount of clichés and melodrama here make the nearly two hour run time feel like an eternity. Rated: 3.5/10 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Stephen Carty Radio Times So grim and downbeat that it may just be too bleak for some viewers. Rated: 2/5 May 11, 2017 Full Review Emma Simmonds The List It's a well-meaning, often superbly acted film with nothing very original to say. Rated: 3/5 Jun 23, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Juno temple is great in this she is one of the most underated performers out today love all her roles but she killed this role Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member In spite of the mediocre reviews this film shines through. Epic, albeit flawed, archetypes of the modern, depressing world, with subject matter that is often excused, overlooked and minimized by other films. Pure cinematic genius, and not worthy of the faux, wanna-be professional critics who disliked it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Ria is into some deep stuff. She's an ex-junkie and has only two persons in her life. Kaz, another ex-junkie that she sees as a sister and Dex, the sly guy that uses her, manipulating her to think he helps her out. Some stuff goes wrong and in the mix we meet Joseph. While Ria is 20 or so, he is pushing 60. He is grieving over his dead wife and tries to drink himself to death. In many ways he is a bigger mess than Ria. She tries to get out, he get's on with the abuse. Two pretty different figures, but still so alike. One is hating the world because he want to, she hates the world because it gives her a hard time. It's like "Harold and Maude" meets "Leaving Las Vegas". The odd couple bonding. It's not an easy ride but it has it ups and downs. Humor, dark stories and scenes. It's thrilling and down to earth, it's actually making Blackpool a perfect location. There are flaws, sadly. Some scenes tries to impress with creating paranoia or other emotions but fails a bit. Some turns are not that impressive, but I do like the way flashbacks completes the story as they are told and opened up during the film. Great acting by the two leads, a great match really. My first film from the director and this "under the radar" film was a very nice experience. 7.5 out of 10 beach windmills. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review julia p Great acting by the two leads. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Incredibly moving. Fantastic performances. Lovely cinematography. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
