Birithivy Y Ayan - 10/10. The late K.V. Anand made a comeback in his directing career with this brilliant action adventure film. Smuggling is something tamil cinema has surprisingly not touched up on, so when Ayan came out it was a breathe of fresh air. In the commercial department, Ayan is the type of blockbuster movie tamil cinema should be making. Its fast, fun, funny, colourful, and downright entertaining. Its probably the most fun filled Surya movie, and you can tell he had a great time in the movie, as its a stark contrast to his career defining performances in Vaaranam Aayiram. Ayan is a globe trotting film, and Anand did an amazing job of showcasing the real life smuggling issues along with the high exhilarating fun he was showcasing on screen. I’ll definitely miss his direction style, as he was a director who knew how to entertain the audiences. He also knew how to interweave real life things into his stories, creating for interesting plots that seemed different from the run of the mill commercial film. But Ayan is him at his peak of abilities, and its a fun filled time!
