steve d Solid adaptation of a great book. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member second version of this after a 1924 silent version Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member If ever there was a lesson in whitewashing a story this is it. Not only are all the themes of the Lewis' novel blunted beyond recognition, the movie seems to literally come from the exact opposite perspective. I imagine a lot of this had to do with the film's timing, coming out right after the production code began being enforced, and it makes you wonder what they could have done with their talented cast just a few months earlier.
