steve d 01/09/2023 Solid adaptation of a great book. See more 11/06/2012 second version of this after a 1924 silent version See more 06/26/2010 If ever there was a lesson in whitewashing a story this is it. Not only are all the themes of the Lewis' novel blunted beyond recognition, the movie seems to literally come from the exact opposite perspective. I imagine a lot of this had to do with the film's timing, coming out right after the production code began being enforced, and it makes you wonder what they could have done with their talented cast just a few months earlier.
