What to Know

Critics Consensus

Back to Black's sympathetic approach to its subject's story is an overdue antidote to the tabloid treatment she often received in life, even if the end results are disappointingly pedestrian.

Kristy Puchko Mashable This papering over of Winehouse and her story isn't just bland and boring — it's offensive. May 29, 2024 Full Review Emma Oxnevad Chicago Reader Much like the rabid tabloid coverage Winehouse faced, Back to Black is a lazy attempt to capitalize on both the success and struggles of a great artist. May 24, 2024 Full Review Rafer Guzman Newsday An incomplete version of a well-known story. Rated: 2/4 May 21, 2024 Full Review Pete Vonder Haar Houston Press If Winehouse was guilty of anything, it was terrible taste in men. Her meet cute with Blake Fielder ignores that Fielder is a sofa surfing, popped collar d-bag who doesn't know what the word "anachronistic" means. And he already has a girlfriend! Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 27, 2024 Full Review Calum Cooper Movies We Texted About It’s not just a disservice to Winehouse and her legacy - it’s a disservice to compelling storytelling. Jul 19, 2024 Full Review Matt Pais MattPais.com It's better than you've heard. Rated: B Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

John It was more like a collage of Amys official videos of her major songs from her both albums. The only good thing was to hear Amys songs again. The actress have no physical resemblence to Amy, her husband portrayed like an angel(which he was not) and her father was portrayed like an ineffective figure( which he was not) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Nancy B Sad story that I knew. Great Music. Such a loss for the music world! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/24 Full Review La Toya B The movie was great. It was long but I didn't even realize the time until the end of the movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/06/24 Full Review Richard G The movie was slow. They left out a lot of details, which made it somewhat confusing. I would not recommend this movie unless you are a huge fan of Amy Winehouse. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/06/24 Full Review Mom & daughter This is a really good movie, definitely worth seeing. The actress that plays Amy was incredible! Even my teenage daughter loved it, and all of us parents know how hard teens are to please! She was surprised how well she portrayed Amy, and this was before her time even. She cried and I cried, as well as we also both cried. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Wendy Daz I like this! Me encant esta pelcula y la manera en que el actriz la interpret la recomiendo para recordar esta bella artista Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
