Fifty T Nov 6 When Comedy Turns into Cringe: Rewatching Bade Miyan Chote Miyan after 27 years is a rude reminder that nostalgia can be deceptive. Back in 1998, the Amitabh-Govinda combo felt fresh and energetic, and despite its flaws, I had fun — maybe a 6.5/10 kind of fun. But now, the cracks are impossible to miss. The first hour crawls, filled with lazy setups, flat jokes, and plastic choreography. It only picks up in the second half, where Govinda’s comic timing briefly saves the chaos. David Dhawan’s formula (double roles, loud humor, endless songs) feels painfully stale today. What once passed as crowd-pleasing now plays like a noisy relic from a more forgiving era. A reminder that not every “90s hit” survives a rewatch - this one certainly doesn’t.
