Audience Member Fine cinamatography, acting and some about human relation, but then again it becomes shallow - and big Hector got very soft pretty easily. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review tom m Don't bother. I couldn't tell if the stilted dialogue was just bad writing and acting or whether they had a failed attempt at the stilted language of the era. In any case, it was distracting and pathetic. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The reviews might make some question watching this movie, but for low budget they made an amazing film! You will not regret watching this movie. Just please give it more than 10min of your time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Way too much boring, shallow, unbelievable dialogue and not near enough action. Only standouts were Wes Studi and Bruce Dern. The rest was a train wreck. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review William L Badland may have the absolute worst dialogue of any Western film that I've ever seen; it comes off like it's attempting to lampoon old low-budget '50s TV Westerns, but seems to take itself completely seriously. The opening sequence has it all: terrifically cheesy writing, gun flips, throwing a badge onto a table, one guy taking out five by firing from the hip. The narrative is bizarrely disjointed, essentially two halves that barely interact with one another. Legitimately could see scenes of this film fitting into the narrative segments in some sort of mid-budget Western porn parody. The fact that Sorvino appears in this dumpster fire does not tell me that her career has had a positive trajectory since her Oscar win. And it feels like Wes Studi, who barely had more than a cameo appearance here, will forever be tarnished as a legendary character actor by virtue of his inclusion in this project. (1/5) Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/21/20 Full Review Audience Member Bravo Netflix! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Money Well Spent! 😻 Absolutely Loved the Movie Badland. Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Badland" is ultimately too beholden to the past to be as energized as it should be. Nov 3, 2019 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety Justin Lee's indie Western should satisfy genre enthusiasts with a strong cast and an entertaining spin on a familiar story. Nov 1, 2019 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media With a low-budget, low-energy feel, this Western gets off to a wobbly start, but thanks to several great veteran performers, it soon finds an even, laconic tone that should please fans of the genre. Rated: 3/5 Apr 24, 2020 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound Despite using plenty of the usual tropes of the genre (silent, but appealing anti-hero, a woman in peril, an underdog fight against evil types, etc.) Badlands stumbles. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 2, 2020 Full Review Adam Mock Film Inquiry Given a few more passes on the script, take out the chapter brakes and maybe punch up the action, Badland could have been a modern-day cowboy flick worth the near two hour run time. Nov 2, 2019 Full Review Alex Saveliev Film Threat Lee's film never escapes its B-movie roots, nor does it try to, embracing its own pompousness. Rated: 6/10 Nov 2, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
