What to Know

Critics Consensus

A startlingly inept film, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever offers overblown, wall-to-wall action without a hint of wit, coherence, style, or originality.

Matt Singer ScreenCrush I'm having a hard time believing the words as I type them but ... it's not that bad. Rated: 4/10 Jan 29, 2019 Full Review Nell Minow Beliefnet An endless barrage of bullets and bazookas Rated: D Oct 9, 2015 Full Review Jocelyn Noveck Associated Press For many viewers, the big question may be not whether Ecks and Sever will get together, or why they are fighting in the first place, but why am I sitting here, anyway? Sep 15, 2014 Full Review William Bibbiani Consequence I guess not every bad movie has a cult following in its future. Some of them are just kinda bad. Sep 20, 2022 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News If you must see Ecks vs. Sever, just go bang your head against the wall for an hour and a half. It would be the same effect. Nov 15, 2019 Full Review Michael Sragow Baltimore Sun Kaos is so in love with pyrotechnics -- and so arrogant in his assumptions about his audience -- that in the first few minutes, he presents one critical car explosion without explanation, then has his characters discuss another one. Dominick F I only have any word to describe this movie, B-A-D Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Riley N Just a terrible movie to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Yello Y Don’t watch it. Fucking terrible Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Lydia K I highly recommend this if you are struggling with insomnia, it puts you right to sleep. :)) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Audience Member I don't care what anyone says, watching Lucy Lui kick ass in any form or fashion is a cinematic treat, Banderas is his usual charming self. Compared to some of the utter dross we've had to endure in the last decade by far more accIaimed actors I can't see how this film is less worthy than any other spy actioner. No one is or should expect to have to do any thinking watching this movie but if you can rate "Boss Level" or "Cop Shop" better than this then you need a re-evaluation of your reviewing process. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review M.K. A It is the perfect movie for a lazy day in front of the tv. Great when recovering from knee surgery, for example. It doesn't take many brain cells to watch this movie and there's plenty of action and fight scenes to compensate for the lack of storyline.
