James Adams Globe and Mail It's downright playful, in fact, funky chic and cheeky. Somewhere, Banksy is smiling. Rated: 3/4 May 22, 2015 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star Reveals a provocative social experiment and raises questions about ownership of public art. Rated: 3/4 May 21, 2015 Full Review Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) The talking heads can't tell us much, but Moukarbel makes deft use of crowd-sourced footage to convey the wildly different ways New Yorkers engaged with the works. Rated: 3/5 Apr 23, 2015 Full Review Giovanni Fazio Japan Times Banksy -- like most ruffians who took to scrawling on public property and fleeing the police -- has a strong anti-establishment tone running through his work, and his best NYC work is reliably cheeky. Rated: 4/5 Jul 18, 2016 Full Review David 'Mad Dog' Bradley Adelaide Review Made for the smallscreen (but don't hold that against it), this is an enjoyable romp through Staten Island, the Lower East Side, inner Manhattan and beyond, and is essential for any Banksy devotee. Jan 1, 2016 Full Review José Teodoro NOW Toronto Moukarbel's straightforward film is more domesticated than the work it profiles, but it's a dutiful document of an event that, despite Banksy's fame, remained on the periphery of the art world establishment. david f This is a pretty thorough recounting of Banksy's New York residency, and you get to see all the art and all the reactions but it felt somewhat shallow and maybe a little too breezy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member As a big Banksy-fan I was glad when I stumbled over this. I have seen "Exit Through The Gift Shop" - an all right film that Mister Brainwash kind of take to much focus in. This is more about the main man, but he had nothing to with this film. He does a piece in New York every day for a month. Some with cans on walls, others in trucks or even bricks. People go mad on social media and people hunt after his pieces everyday. This is well captured by tweets, short videos and stuff from his own website. Some experts talk about him and some "hunters" get's a fair bit of screentime. I like the idea and some pieces are superb. He is one of the most creative artists of this era, and that mysteriousness and graff-ish style is killer for me. A nice little tribute to 5pointz too. OK as a documentary product, interesting, but not bringing much new to the table accept new works. That's not an easy thing, though. 7 out of 10 walls. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It was one of the best documentaries i have ever watched. It swings you with the surprising reaction of Banksy's audience and his portrayal of street art and social issues. It expands your mind, it changes the way we observe graffiti's, street art and social issues. This quote from the movie is my favorite "Don't we want to live in a world made up of art, not just decorated by it?" Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Banky's art is a bit hit and miss for me, more misses in this case. But this social experiment is an intriguing one which paints a colourful picture of New Yorkers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The watching of stuff shot in NYC prior to a trip there continues! This is a really fun and lighthearted look at Banksy's month long residency...and it's great :) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
