“Bar Fight!” is so low-stakes and small-scale that at times it feels more like a TV sitcom pilot than a film. But this would be a pilot worthy of a pickup.

Bar Fight! wants to be the best night out of your life, but – mistaking dodgy drunken acting for ambience – it feels pretty ersatz throughout, like one of those pseudo-Irish bars that has bought in all its decor.

Unfortunately, nothing works here. The characters don’t make sense. The emotional arc is minimal and poorly executed. The pathos falls flat. The "jokes" seem uninterested in themselves.

Compelling lead in. Likable characters. Good friction plot. Kept me watching to see where it was going. Slight slow down but ending was real. Music was fun and engaging. Two thumbs up !
