Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express ...the film unravels in the way it tries to mix its allegorical elements with inconsistent plot-points which include terrorists-from-sarhad-paar involved with ‘farming’ innocents: too much obviousness takes away from the delicacy of the rest of it. Rated: 2/5 Nov 8, 2025 Full Review Rahul Desai The Hollywood Reporter India As a horror film, Baramulla is efficient with its tropes: dysfunctional family, haunted cop, creepy new house, missing children, the possibility of vengeful spirits, gunfights and jump-scares vying for attention, human terror posing as celestial chaos. Nov 11, 2025 Full Review Rishabh Suri Hindustan Times Despite its uneven moments, Baramulla remains a gripping watch, powered by Manav Kaul’s composed performance and Aditya’s confident direction. Rated: 3/5 Nov 10, 2025 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in The scare factor is negligent, constituting much groaning and sighing. The characters are too sketchily written and indifferently performed – even by the dependable Manav Kaul – to be engaging. Nov 8, 2025 Full Review Lachmi Deb Roy Firstpost Had the film been properly executed with fine storytelling the Netflix’s Baramulla would have been an engaging watch. Only if you are in an undemanding mood, the film is watchable, otherwise… Rated: 2/5 Nov 8, 2025 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India The film succeeds in mood and atmosphere, delivering a world that feels both real and unsettling. Yet, it falls short of the emotional and narrative depth it aspires to. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 7, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Shailendra K It is rare to get such a good mix of a well written suspense story, a haunting set up, an effective use of geo-political situation in a well executed Hindi horror thriller augmented by really good performances. The movie starts as an abduction crime drama with a hint of geo-political undertone which gradually transforms itself into a supernatural thriller with a pretty hard hitting underlying commentary on historical events surrounding the area. The story is absolutely solid with some expected and many unexpected twists and turns as we see the evolution of the 4 very different character arcs in the movie. Manav Kaul is very effective as a DSP with a past that haunts him and his family as he tries to solve the crime. Bhasha Sumbli gives a powerful performance as his wife who is trying to understand the paranormal aspects of their situation. Arista Mehta is also very good as their daughter with PTSD getting influenced by the political and religious elements of the area and finally Rohaan Singh as the younger child who connects with the supernatural at play in the house. The director does a very good job in gradually peeling the multiple layers of mystery to expose more and more of the dark heart of the movie. He effectively molds three very different genres of crime thriller, paranormal horror and historical drama into one slow burn atmospheric horror thriller. The pace, the cinematography, the sinister undertones gave me vibes of watching a good Scandinavian crime thriller or a gothic supernatural horror movie. Technically the movie is pretty impressive. It is slow, eerie, creepy with a haunting atmosphere and a few jump scares which effectively blends horror, suspense, drama and history. A limited series format would have allowed the story to breath a bit more and to achieve more emotional depth in the relationships. However at almost 2 hours, Baramulla is still pretty a effective supernatural thriller worth watching. I liked it a lot. 7.5/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/12/25 Full Review Ritika S Brilliantly executed, perfect use of a thick plot, history and symbolism. Subtle yet powerful impact. Truly remarkable work by the actors especially child actors. Worth watching ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Mirza M 'Baramulla' is a chilling and thought-provoking experience that effectively blends horror and thriller elements against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of Kashmir’s snow-covered landscapes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Rue C The history is there but the movie plot is very thin. To be honest, it was a waste of time watching it. Some of the reviews mentioned well crafted. But, which part? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Varun K As a child my first school was Burn Hall in Srinagar, Kashmir I remember my grandfather used to go there to get his 'Ugrai (payment)' for our cloth business and we were living in the house of a Kashmiri Muslim His name was Shah, we had a beautiful garden where we also played cricket with Pads and hard ball and I used to be friends with his daughter Akhter. Next I remember is 1990 in Amritsar, Punjab and safe not knowing why we left The movie is a horror movie but the horror is not in the ghosts it portrays but as real Kashmiri Pandit families who were reluctant to leave their nice houses and leave the nice valley behind. The genius of this movie series is bringing together ghost and real world horror of the 90's Kashmir. I wish my daughter only sees this as just another hansel and Gretel while it is only people and adults like me who know that there were kids like us back then, going to Burn Hall school that only had that school as their first and last. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review jesika G. Excellent. Stick your way through it, it will pay off Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
