There's still a freshness of observation and a sparky sense of wonder about its protagonists which means that Michal Vinik's debut feature retains the keen edge of authentic experience. Go to Full Review

Blush gives us a compelling glimpse of what being a LGBT teen is like in Israel, which is enough to make this an interesting hour and a half. Go to Full Review

The visual textures are adroitly familiar, but the director never loses track of his two leads: the sex scene between the two young women tumbles through often contradictory moods and their distinct uncertainty before capturing their pleasure together. Go to Full Review

The two lead actresses both give appealing and believable performances. Had the characters, especially Dana, been a bit more developed, the movie would be far more vivid and distinctive. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE 06/01/2025 Needless to say, the topic of the movie about an adolescent girl in Israel who navigates the society ( with no active war at the time) and in the process realizes that she is attracted to her own sex, is a minefield that could lead to naïf pronouncements or exploitation. It is handled however with delicacy. In less than 90 minutes we are introduced among others to the presence of the Arab minority, the role of the army, generational gap and drug use. The sex scenes are sensitive and realistic. Acting uniformly good. The whole thing is in a way nightmarish if you are an adult raising children, but that’s another story. On Tubi under the title Blush. And now on Prime. Impressively the director is a man. I would call it a cinematic Catcher in the Rye. Very good cinematography and music. See more Read all reviews
