Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (LAist) This is just damn good and so unnerving. Jun 13, 2025 Full Review Nell Minow RogerEbert.com The film wants to explore themes of violence, generational trauma, grief, and the possibility of redemption. Instead, it just presents them. Rated: 2/4 Jun 7, 2025 Full Review Karina Adelgaard Heaven of Horror It will pull on your heartstrings as well as your ideas of justice and revenge. Rated: 3/5 Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Barron’s Cove can get a little melodramatic in this gripping crime drama about a divorced father who kidnaps a boy suspected of killing his 10-year-old son. However, the principal cast members give riveting performances, which elevate the movie. Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Scott Howard Under the Radar Barron’s Cove had the potential to be something more. There’s an underlying theme of breaking generational cycles of violence, even in the face of deep injustice, but the film’s murky twists dilute its impact. Rated: 5/10 Jun 25, 2025 Full Review Mark Jackson Epoch Times What could have been a disturbing, thought-provoking crime thriller soon segues to a pulpy, over-the-top tale of terrible fathers and suffering sons. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 24, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Les N A bit stupid, but ok Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review prawnda s it begins feeling like it might be a decent film, but there is a lot of pointless screaming. a lot of reviews waxed it up saying that every line was deliberate and purposeful, but that is so far from the truth. its not the worst movie ive seen, and does have some redeeming qualities (mainly in production values and not in script or acting), but it feels like a lot of impotent rage instead of a real thriller. shouting, slamming fists etc do not automatically make for good drama or thriller content, they have to be meaningful. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Mike H Could have been so good with a good set-up. But the script went off the rails with ridiculous “twists” and over the top melodrama dialogue. What made it worse is the over-acting from the main players. There’s a reason why Garrett Hedlund never became an a-list actor. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Billy J. Fun game of one step forward two steps back between the excellent performances of the cast and the lazy haphazard writing. While it’s true nobody gets too far like that, it's still a walk worth taking and one I don't regret. If you have trouble suspending your disbelief for the sake of cinematic pleasure and allowing a few courtesy passes on plot elements then you may find this one a bit frustrating to get through. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review Monique B This is a great dark plot twister. Garrett Hedlund is absolutely fantastic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/21/25 Full Review D R This movie exceled far past Mystic River. End of rant. A must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/20/25 Full Review Read all reviews
