Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed Boyd Kirkland's "SubZero" stands as not only one of the best animated Batman films of all time, but one of the best Batman films, period. Kevin P A pretty solid conclusion to the BTAS Mr. Freeze character arc trilogy. Mr. Freeze has solid motivation with his final return to crime with high stakes to save his wife. It was nice to briefly see his new life In the Arctic, where he doesn’t need the suit and has raised a surrogate family with his adoptive Inuit son and two pet polar bears. I appreciate that Barbara Gordon doesn’t go down without a fight and never feels like a damsel in distress despite her kidnapping status (a big improvement from previous Batman female characters that start strong, but often become helpless by the end). There are a few drawbacks, like the random shots in bad 90’s CGI and the admittedly thin story that can sometimes make the movie feel like an extended episode of the TV show. But there’s still a lot of great animation, action, and storytelling involved to make this worth a watch. And the ending is perfect for Mr. Freeze and Nora. One that’s bittersweet, but ultimately hopeful and a nice reward for longtime fans itching to see how Victor Fries’s story ends (at least until Season 4 brought him back). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/25 Full Review Jay H It's a Batman movie, but Batman is hardly in it. Bummer. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/06/23 Full Review Farah R The story is weaker than Mask of the Phantasm, and the CG graphics combined with traditional animation could have come through better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/21/23 Full Review Andrius Y Batman bajo cero no solo es una bella cinta animada con una historia profunda ,un antagonista magnifico bien adaptado ,trama entretenida ,guion magnifico y una animación clasicamente hermosa. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/12/23 Full Review Audience Member 25 years old and still one of the finer direct-to-video Batman movies It's only 1 hour but manages to accomplish so much The main villain here is Victor Frieze a renowned scientist who had a beautiful wife Nora But she developed a deadly disease so Victor was forced to cryogenically suspend her until he can find a suitable cure Along the way he suffered an accident and became one with sub freezing temperatures and resided to the North Pole A team of explorers caused his cave to collapse and worsened his wife's condition, now Victor has to find a suitable organ donor to save her life He ends up kidnapping Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon's daughter Now it's up to Batman and Robin to save her This ends up being another worthy animated Batman movie; terrific animation, captures the spirit of the show, and makes great use of one of the Caped Crusader's most popular rogues gallery You do end up sympathizing with Freeze because of his desperate attempts to save his beloved It's enjoyable and generally kid friendly even if it's less than emotionally impacting than 'Mask of the Phantasm' Plus this easily moves past the Shulmacher movies that didn't satisfy everyone but fans of the show and the characters will be very pleased Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
