How this movie is rated so low is beyond me. Battle Los Angeles takes you into the world of the United States Marine, from end of a career to those beginning, displaying an excellent representation of military rank structure, duty above personal issues and tenacity to never quit against all odds. Action packed, you follow the Marines of 2nd Battalion 5th Marines into what was supposed to be an evacuation mission, into the front line battle against an unknown and superior enemy. This film exhibits how Marines face challenge after challenge and continously adapt and overcome them regardless of personal cost. Misunderstandings that lead to severe resentment were resolved and a combined effort with the Air Force helped win the battle. Plus it has Michael Peña. Total win.

This movie is completely underrated. This was not your typical alien movie but rather a story of a group of soldiers and their story. Did it have some cliches? Yes, but they are overshadowed by the way the film captured the unit camaraderie and fighting spirit.

The film Los Angeles Battle is a film that fuses a large scale alien invasion spectacle with a modern day war drama setting. The film’s handheld sound design, cinematography, and effects immerse the audience amid the horror of war. The men of the squad fight for each other, and echoing the themes of sacrifice and camaraderie strengthens the film’s emotional core. The film’s primary tempo is fast and the secondary one is relentless. Fans of military action and sci-fi will both enjoy the film.
