For many years, humans have reported various UFO sightings around the world, fueling speculation about the existence of life on other worlds. In 2011, mankind learns the truth the hard way when alien invaders attack. One by one, the world's great cities fall, leaving Los Angeles as the battleground for humanity's last stand. Scott Foundas Film Comment Magazine Case in point: Battle: Los Angeles, an alien-invasion disaster piece so loud, ham-fisted and joyless-so aggressively lousy-that its only real usefulness is to make one better appreciate the deft touch of a Roland Emmerich. Jun 28, 2013 Full Review Michael Wilmington Chicago Reader Terminally stupid. Dec 6, 2011 Full Review Anthony Lane New Yorker If the talk had been surgically removed, leaving only the sights and sounds of combat, this could have been a striking, semiabstract display of aggressive energy; as it is, any viewer over twelve will go for the laughs. Mar 21, 2011 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Our plot and attention is not split and spread to several places or groups of people around the country and world. We stick with one group the whole way through and that's the movie's strength. Rated: 3/5 Feb 16, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review After a shotgun wedding between Black Hawk Down and Independence Day, this movie was the unwanted offspring—an unintelligible mixture of war movies and science-fiction that insults the credibility of both genres. Rated: 1/4 Jul 31, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies It’s aim was to be a pre-summer popcorn action movie and it hits it’s mark. Major T Great flick. Stands up to test of time. It’s an out sacrifice and heroes at a time we need them. Great job! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Jaco P Don't listen to the dim witted *top critic's*. And their small minded reviews. Battle Los Angeles, is a brilliant movie. Especially in 2024. If you want something great to watch you found it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/11/24 Full Review Red I It's 2024. A good action flick. I wish they could do more movies like this one. not great, but not terrible. Decent flick Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Roy S I absolutely LOVE this movie. It is exactly what I picture that IF this ever ACTUALLY happens, Will look like. Aaron Eckhart is bad-ass. The effects are great and the action and sounds are top-notch. I turn on the surround sound system and turn up my subwoofer and FEEL this movie. exciting from start to finish. All the critics that panned this movie should all stick their heads in a bucket of ice water. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review Jack N Not as bad as other people say, in my opinion. It’s not great either, however. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Korra N The effects and performances are all solid, but cliched direction and writing make Battle: LA a generic PG-13 action movie that should've either been a hard-R war film or leaned heavier into campiness.
