Anton Bitel Little White Lies unnerving study in cinephilia & erotomania, somewhere between Man Bites Dog & Creep, as one man documents his own murderous obsession, knowing full well that his possession of a camera is the best cover story for acts lifted from the horror genre. Dec 9, 2016 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle It's precisely because it feels so real that it feels so stomach-droppingly plausible: The mundanity makes it all the more terrifying. Dec 8, 2016 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts I thought it was good for what it was and I applauded the way it was put together...a very interesting found footage film. Rated: 5/10 Apr 23, 2021 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut Strikingly original, memorable and tense film, the first found footage film from Romania. Rated: 4/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Tofei's uncomfortable moments are used to good effect, and that also plays into the worrisome metafiction of the film overall. Rated: 4/5 May 6, 2019 Full Review Alistair Ryder Film Inquiry With so many layers of meta commentary blurring the lines between reality and film, Be My Cat is an enjoyably oddball watch. Tyler B The psychopathy is genuinely believable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Tim A Awesome concept for a movie. The rambling of main character could have been cut down a bit. But having little to no real views of victims works extremely well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Matthew S DEFINATELY not a film for everyone....but I thought it was dope AF!! Director was the main character who was super creepy and awesome at playing a psychopath!! Yes he repeats him self a lot but that's the point. Like the characters weird as all hell people. He's not supposed to talk normal. It was very dark. Makes you super uncomfortable as well but if u like these kinda movies your gonna love this!! Best ff movie I've seen since Blair Witch. Just got one question. Has Anne Hathaway seen this lol? All in all 4 stars, super freaky, super dark, very disturbing and most importantly very entertaining horror movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Andrew B Sure, the movie is unique and well made, but the main character is so overwhelmingly ugly, disgusting, and annoying, that I was struggling to keep watching. His stupid face, terrible teeth, and punishingly annoying yapping and laughing is exhausting to endure. I hate this character so much. I wanted to see him get caught or even die. But, I'm not gonna give it a one star just because the main actor's character is so unbearable to witness and listen to when in reality, the film has achieved it's goal of being frustrating and uncomfortable and therefore is good in that sense. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Lesley E This is one of the dumbest films I've ever seen! Blumhouse called this an "intelligent film people need to see"??!! I'll save you the trouble and tell you this is a film you absolutely DO NOT need to see (unless you'd like to lose and hour and a half of your life). In fact, I feel like I've actually lost intelligence watching this film. I don't know how in God's name this film got such a high approval rating?! Regarding the plot; are Romanian girls stupid?! How could they not see that this guy was sketchy??! The guy poses as an indie film director but has very awkward social skills, no basic knowledge of actual "filming" and pacing, has no set or studio, but instead films inside and outside of his cheap flat. THAT should be an instant red flag - and if these girls had half a brain cell, they'd know that even if the guy was genuinely some kinda film director, his film/project is certainly not going to boost their career in any way! There are also problems with the logic; for example with the 1st girl, he tells her that she needs to be a metre away from him, but then he proceeds to move closer to her, then gets angry that's she's not keeping her distance when it's him that's moving closer! They fall out, she calls the cops but then for some reason she changes her mind and decides to continue with the movie??! What?! This is just not logical! This failure of logic occurs with the other 2 girls as well. Lastly with regards to the film's concept; this film is very similar to "Creep" (2014) - which by the way is FAR more superior film to this piece of junk. This movie came out a year after "Creep" so I wouldn't be surprised if the director drew heavily from that film. Overall, I'd give this film a zero if I could. If you're looking for something similar to this, go ahead and watch both Creep 1 and 2. Both are highly superior to this film, so give this pile of stink a hard pass. (Final verdict: half stars) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/23 Full Review Diana S Could've been a 15-minute student film. Seemed like it was all improv, minimal script, and editing needed to be seriously tightened up. Not a terrible idea, but just a mess. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
