Anton Bitel Little White Lies unnerving study in cinephilia & erotomania, somewhere between Man Bites Dog & Creep, as one man documents his own murderous obsession, knowing full well that his possession of a camera is the best cover story for acts lifted from the horror genre. Dec 9, 2016 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle It's precisely because it feels so real that it feels so stomach-droppingly plausible: The mundanity makes it all the more terrifying. Dec 8, 2016 Full Review Meredith Jill Brown Upcoming Horror Movies Be My Cat is a unique case file into the mind of a deeply disturbed and possibly schizophrenic filmmaker who truly believes his work will be the imprint of a genius. Rated: 7/10 Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts I thought it was good for what it was and I applauded the way it was put together...a very interesting found footage film. Rated: 5/10 Apr 23, 2021 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut Strikingly original, memorable and tense film, the first found footage film from Romania. Rated: 4/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Tofei's uncomfortable moments are used to good effect, and that also plays into the worrisome metafiction of the film overall. Tara B I would rather just stare at a picture of Anne Hathaway. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/25 Full Review Andy B This film has so much potential and sadly doesn’t deliver. The concept is great - the main character is an obsessive fan of Anna Hathaway who is trying to get her to make a film with him. In order to demonstrate his commitment, he films three women in scenes from the film. In the film he is making, he is portraying himself. He sees the character as being more obsessed and psychotic than him, but actually it’s just a reflection of his personality- as is evidenced by his bloody actions. It’s a great idea - and very meta. It looks at obsession with celebrity, the ability of people to hide behind the camera and their willingness to fool themselves. But, it is clear that the film is largely improvised, so it lacks impact and punch. Apparently the filmmaker decided to only used first takes - but there’s a reason that not all films don’t do that, in terms of making a film slicker and more effective. The pacing drags and the characters are not engaging enough to maintain attention. It’s a shame, as it could have been exceptional. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Oaklee D Critics have sung this films praises from the rooftops, and I don't see the hype. It is an incoherent film that is in no way entertaining. I had high expectations and was majorly disappointed. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Stoner J I think the critics (and most audience) are just tripping, this is not a good movie, you don’t find out what happens to the main character OR his last would be victim, so what’s the point of watching. It was also like watching a freakin snuff film, for real! It was also extremely too simple. The lack of conclusion is just the tip of the spear. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/25 Full Review Colette P An utterly brilliant found footage film!! Something that often lacks in this subgenre is originality and surprise and this film delivers on all of this. While a slow burn, (like some of the best found footage!) It plays like a psychological study, where we slowly peel back the layers of insanity and twisted world view of this lead character. Each scene increases the horror and intrigue of where or who this “film” will end with. A lot of the brilliance lies within the dialogue and the fact that the plot is completely character driven. Underrated film, definitely recommend to fans of this subgenre. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review Tyler B The psychopathy is genuinely believable.
