It’s approximately one and a half hours of listening to the psychotic rantings of an unhinged man while his actresses were as dumb as could be. The concept is great - the main character is an obsessive fan of Anna Hathaway who is trying to get her to make a film with him. In order to demonstrate his commitment, he films three women in scenes from the film. In the film he is making, he is portraying himself. He sees the character as being more obsessed and psychotic than him, but actually it’s just a reflection of his personality- as is evidenced by his bloody actions. It’s a great idea - and very meta. It looks at obsession with celebrity, the ability of people to hide behind the camera and their willingness to fool themselves. But, it is clear that the film is largely improvised, so it lacks impact and punch. Apparently the filmmaker decided to only used first takes - but there’s a reason that not all films don’t do that, in terms of making a film slicker and more effective. The pacing drags and the characters are not engaging enough to maintain attention. It’s a shame, as it could have been exceptional. See more Stoner J @Stoner Apr 26 I think the critics (and most audience) are just tripping, this is not a good movie, you don’t find out what happens to the main character OR his last would be victim, so what’s the point of watching.
