Anupama Chopra Film Companion The highlights of Beast are bogged down in a quicksand of bland writing. Apr 15, 2022 Full Review J Hurtado Austin Chronicle Lackluster performances, confusing tonal shifts, and limp action sequences leave Beast in a kind of crossover purgatory. Apr 14, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies It’s pretty conventional stuff. What makes it fun is Nelson’s keen eye for well choreographed action and Vijay’s straight-faced delivery. Together the two put together some terrific action scenes that are as silly as they are thrilling. Rated: 3/5 Aug 16, 2022 Full Review Hariharan Krishnan Film Companion Beast watches the clash of two distinct pathways — Nelson's style and Vijay’s repertoire, and is sadly beaten at its own game. Jun 10, 2022 Full Review M Suganth The Times of India Nelson seems to have banked entirely on his star to carry the film this time, but with a script that hardly offers him anything to work with, even Vijay can only do so much with his star power. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 28, 2022 Full Review Vishal Menon Film Companion We get a Beast of an entertainer in what appears to be the body of a beauty (Manoj Paramahamsa is the DOP). It is focused, unfussy and unsentimental without the weight of a million farmers to save or the womenkind to empower. Apr 15, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Niyor S The only thalapathy vijay show. The story of the movie is average but some action sequence of the movie is good. Overall the movie is not worthy but the action and style of the thalapathy vijay make movie balanced. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Nikhil K I didn't really enjoy the movie, but I still watched it all the way through because I was curious about the ending. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Kesavan g Thalapathy Vijay performance 😎 👌 padam average than Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Niranjan B Beastly blunder! Shouldn't have gotten made in the first place, but nevertheless, watch it on OTT if there's nothing else to binge on (that too at your own risk). Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Beast - 7/10. Nelson directs this quickly made action thriller starring Vijay, Pooja Hedge, Selvaraghavan, VTV Ganesh, and Yogi Babu. A PTSD ridden RAW agent is forced to move on with his life by his psychiatrist. This leads him to meeting a young woman who works for a security team, who recruits him in hopes it could give him something to do. Fate has it that the security team must visit the local mall to try to renew their contract with the complex, on the same day that the mall gets hijacked. The RAW agent must now help try to get the people safe, while also fighting back against the terrorists. Though the story is heavily inspired by other movies (Gurkha, Die Hard, and Air Force One to name a few), and features some over the top action scenes, Beast overall is still a fun film with loads of laughs and well shot sequences. Beast suffers in two forms. In one way, this movie has trouble deciding if it wants to be an action film or a comedy. What made Nelson's previous film, Doctor, so great was it understood what it wanted to be. It was a dark comedy through and through, never letting up on the comedy whilst also following through on a dark premise. In Beast, we get scenes where it looks like it will be a taut thriller with balls to wall action. But then the next scene will be super goofy, which throws the flow of the movie. The movie also suffers from logical loopholes. I understand its a big budget commercial film, but even in a Die Hard, the action scenes seem reasonable and believable. Here, the main issue is there are moments which feel too good to be true. Otherwise the movie is still entertaining however. Vijay is good in the action role. VTV Ganesh is rip roaringly hilarious, Selvaraghavan surprises, and Pooja does a nice job as well. Music by Anirudh is top notch with great cinematography at points by Manoj Paramahamsa. If only the action scenes were a little less over the top, this would have been an excellent film. But all in all, its still a fun movie overall!
