Audience Member An intimate family drama that fails under the weight of the undefined relationships…great acting performances. Is kate his sister? Step sister? Is this a film about incest? Who's to say. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member I did not know that we have Australian gothic movies. I found the slow meandering pace consistent with an environment steeped in isolation and full of repetitious tasks. This movie has excellent casting, excellent acting, and a creative use of flashback memory sequences that slowly reveals family truths and secrets. August Osage County down under. with less star power. The adult Ned, Sally, Toni and Bruce characters nailed it, and the young Ned and Kate characters portrayed the spectrum of emotions that their ill-fated and confusing twin relationship laid bare. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member The pauses are long and drawn-out but the scenery is beautiful. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member the movie is beautifully shot but it follows the normal pattern of a person having guilt is hounded by past demons and slowly as audience comes to know about his guilt and then the climax where he is devolved of his guillt . nothing new so the story tries to shock you with brother sister sexual relations. That's it. an very average film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting incest movie.... the story was good, the relationship between the sister and her brothers was a little uncomfortable to watch in the way that you feel bad for her and also hate her at the same time. Decent. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member disturbing but very moving, great actors too! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Deborah Ross The Spectator It's absorbingly intriguing, emotionally involving and it will get under your skin. It may even still be under my skin. I'll just check...yes, still there. Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Laura Bushell Little White Lies Beautifully acted and shot, this isn't comforting cinema but is bold and haunting, marking Ward out as a director of note. Rated: 4/5 Aug 3, 2010 Full Review Angie Errigo Empire Magazine A powerful tale of forbidden love, isolation and making peace with the past. Beautiful Kate is truly hypnotic. Rated: 4/5 Jul 30, 2010 Full Review Matthew Pejkovic Matt's Movie Reviews Although it presents itself as a bastion of haunting thoughtfulness and a target of controversy, Beautiful Kate offers nothing more than familiar themes seen in plenty of Australian films before it. Rated: 2/5 Jan 5, 2012 Full Review Sophie Ivan Film4 A stylish and intriguing debut from Rachel Ward. However, despite its good looks, this film ulimately has little to say for itself. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 5, 2010 Full Review David Edwards Daily Mirror (UK) A pedestrian Australian drama that's big on scenery and long, meaningful silences but short on story.
