It's absorbingly intriguing, emotionally involving and it will get under your skin. It may even still be under my skin. I'll just check...yes, still there. Go to Full Review

Beautifully acted and shot, this isn't comforting cinema but is bold and haunting, marking Ward out as a director of note. Go to Full Review

A stylish and intriguing debut from Rachel Ward. However, despite its good looks, this film ulimately has little to say for itself. Go to Full Review

Ian R Aug 30 It helps that I'm Australian. This is a movie with some of our finest actors. Ben Mendelssohn hasn't had the best of luck in gaining fame but he is a very accomplished actor. This film isn't for the faint of heart, it is about incest, (maybe,) or perhaps just the complicated relationships between members of a family living in a remote area. Anger and violence permeate the whole story. It is an eerie film that left me somewhat haunted by its strange story. All accompanied by the Australian landscape. Watch it if you can find it. See more 05/23/2022 An intimate family drama that fails under the weight of the undefined relationships…great acting performances. Is kate his sister? Step sister? Is this a film about incest? Who's to say. See more 06/04/2021 I did not know that we have Australian gothic movies. I found the slow meandering pace consistent with an environment steeped in isolation and full of repetitious tasks. This movie has excellent casting, excellent acting, and a creative use of flashback memory sequences that slowly reveals family truths and secrets. August Osage County down under. with less star power. The adult Ned, Sally, Toni and Bruce characters nailed it, and the young Ned and Kate characters portrayed the spectrum of emotions that their ill-fated and confusing twin relationship laid bare. See more 06/04/2015 The pauses are long and drawn-out but the scenery is beautiful. See more 08/16/2014 the movie is beautifully shot but it follows the normal pattern of a person having guilt is hounded by past demons and slowly as audience comes to know about his guilt and then the climax where he is devolved of his guillt . nothing new so the story tries to shock you with brother sister sexual relations. That's it. an very average film. See more 07/12/2014 Interesting incest movie.... the story was good, the relationship between the sister and her brothers was a little uncomfortable to watch in the way that you feel bad for her and also hate her at the same time. Decent. See more Read all reviews
