I'm a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast as a kid and always will be regardless of adaption, being animated or live action, as well as loving this Broadway adaption to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary. I love the songs, the sets, the costumes, even the transitions between the animated scenes and it's Broadway set. I guess the only nitpick I have is the Beast stage design which is silly, but it's the same for how the CG in some of the live action versions that are silly as well. If you're not into musicals or Broadway related, ya might not like this one. But if you are like I am, you'll have a good time with the songs, set transitions and you'll clap and how amazing this cast has done for this. 9/10.

Composer @alanmenken (the composer of #Aladdin, #Pocahantas and #TheLittleMermaid) is back with his musical creation known as Beauty and the Beast in a 30th anniversary celebration stage performance on #DisneyPlus. This live theatre adaption was written by #RyanLandels (the teleplay) and #LindaWoolverton (the original screenplay) and brilliantly and magically directed by #HamishHamilton. The costumes, set design, visual effects and staging were amazing to see. Visual eye-candy and with a musical score you'll catch yourself singing too. Loosely following the story and using clips from the animated feature it's narrated by the great #RitaMoreno and stars #HER as Belle, #JoshGroban as the Beast, Joshua Henry, #MartinShort as Lumiere, #DavidAlanGrier as Cogsworth and #ShaniaTwain as Mrs. Potts! The musical numbers and arrangements were both colorful and imaginative and how the stage changed and even the outdoor sequences at the actual #DisneyStudios in #Burbank were so much fun to watch. And how can you go wrong with all the singing talent cast in this anniversary special. Again, the only reason this didn't get a perfect score is because the only issue I had was it goes by way too quick and was condensed with some story points missing. Nothing major, but I would have preferred keeping it a little closer to the original. This is something special for the whole family and just a joy to see – for me because I love live theatre. I loved Beauty and the Beast. I loved this cast and I really loved this entire production. You will too! I enjoyed spending the evening on a night during the Christmas season to watch this. I thought I might become disinterested after awhile but it held my attention from beginning to end. I found out a couple of days later that my mother, 85 and my daughter, 33; enjoyed it as much as I did.

The special is good in pieces. It's always nice to see Moreno or to hear an artist like H.E.R. cover a classic Disney tune. But it gets dull to watch it all put together.
