Artie (Artie Lange) has no job and no girlfriend, and still lives with his mother. But he does have two things to look forward to in life: beer and softball. With best buddy Maz (Ralph Macchio), Artie plays on a team for Ed's Bar and Swill -- until their brawling behavior threatens to get them kicked out of the league. In order to maintain their place, they'll have to defeat the champions at Manganelli Fitness -- no easy task when their blood-alcohol levels exceed their batting averages.

Richard Roeper Ebert & Roeper Beer League is raunchy and tacky, but it's a hell of a lot funnier than something like Failure To Launch. Oct 2, 2006 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times Artie Lange, Howard Stern's radio sidekick, somehow manages to make beer-league softball seem no fun at all in this extremely lowbrow comedy. Rated: 0.5/5 Sep 19, 2006 Full Review David Hiltbrand Philadelphia Inquirer Sitting through this film is like spending the night in that sleazy bar you swore you'd never go in, not even to use the bathroom. Rated: 0.5/4 Sep 19, 2006 Full Review Brian Orndorf eFilmCritic.com Beer League is not for tender ears, but more for the beer-bellied, rascally rule breaker in all of us, and most importantly, there's a great chance something in here will make you laugh. Rated: B Dec 18, 2006 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com a whole lot of lewd potty humor that doesn't really add up to anything substantial, a guilty pleasure of sorts when taken in small bursts, but which grows somewhat tiresome in the long run Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 11, 2006 Full Review Scott Weinberg DVDTalk.com When a small delivery of casual swearing from Seymour Cassell earns your movie's biggest laugh, there's definitely a problem. Jake S AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC! I know his life went downhill since this movie but this film is so damn funny! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Audience Member Bold! New Movie! The most interesting thing is it's a family league. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Marc Z For what it is- a low budget, stupid beer and softball comedy starring stand up comedian Artie Lange, and Ralph Macchio on the downside of his career, it is pretty good. There are some very laughable moments, despite the fact that it has many flaws. The movie is set around themes that Lange is an expert in- sports and sex. There are some surprising cameos in this one, including Tina Fey, Laurie Metcaff, and Seymour Cassel. It's almost hard to understand how they ended up in this one, except for Lange's charm. The movie is not politically correct, but otherwise it has stood the test of time better than Lange has. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review LT W I actually thought it was a fun movie. A movie you just kind of sit back and watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/23 Full Review Scott D I love this film. It's funny as hell!!! I've seen it several times. Perhaps the greatest slow pitch softball movie ever made. I realize it doesn't seem to have universal appeal as the other reviews here but if your an adult Man who's played in a slo-pitch league, you will LOVE it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/08/22 Full Review Phantom P This movie is hilarious. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to remove the ping pong balls from their ass. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/22 Full Review Read all reviews
