Abbie Bernstein Assignment X Finding footage rather than the more customary found footage horror. Jeepers C I was surprised by actually finding a witch movie that I liked. They are few and far between. This one wasn't that bad. It had some really creepy vibes and the witch was well done too. Thank God, for no cgi. The practical effects and slight gore was good. The story is about a witch, that is living in the basement of this house. Everyone that comes there is consumed by her. She had a knack for ripping people's heads off and eating them. I wish the movie was alittle longer, but they left it open for a part 2. I am hoping for a sequel. I liked the movie Terrified and this had the same creepiness to it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Laurence D Whilst it's true that I have seen worse, that's not saying much. Utter crepe! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Julie W Plenty of reason to jump. Everything about this movie is unsettling... the winter lighting, the rangy and creepy house, the sounds, and then the witch who was not played to much or too often. Nicely measured direction. It's clear that nothing good is going to happen here. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Pig P Pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Beezel. It’s not the typical horror movie I’d go for, but it completely exceeded my expectations. The haunted house atmosphere was creepy, the witch added an eerie touch, and there were some seriously unexpected scares. Enjoyed the bit of gore, which wasn’t overdone. Definitely worth a watch! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Audience Member Low-budget horror. Practical effects were good with some decent jump-scares. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Amy G Creepy and campy. As a qualifier, I'm not a fan of the horror genre, but I give this director kudos for creepy. The setting is truly scary: unsettling house with lots of rooms, spare furniture, icky crawl spaces and odd doors, compounded by the bleakness of NE skies, darkness, and snow. I especially liked the director's use of light and sound for jarring effects or simply the sound of wall clocks clicking away the minutes and decades. What I don't like about most horror movies is the campy use of body parts and blood and blazing eyeballs which definitely play a part here. For me the first part of the movie was the scariest BEFORE Beezel appears and heads start drooling and blood starts pooling. That's when these movies lose me.
