Audience Member Not bad for what it is and that's a late 40's Private Eye film, nothing which hadn't been done many times before and after. At just over an hour seems like it could have been an episode of any number of detective dramas from the time. Budd Boetticher nunca foi um realizador muito considerado, mas aqui demonstra que sabe guiar uma boa trama tendo como veículo o igualmente incansável Richard Carlson. De resto, qualquer filme em que Tor Johnson aplique uns bons socos merece uma estrela a mais só por isso. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Brisk little noir where Lucille Bremer & Richard Carlson plot to collect and split a 10 grand reward for a wanted judge who is hiding out in a mental institution by having Carlson committed posing as a depressive. Really could have been an under belly expose of the corruption in such facilities as the one of the attendants is cruel & the superintendent is crooked but running just over an hour plays thing more by the numbers. Includes the great Thor Johnson as a violent inmate who was a former boxer & uses the lumbering beast quite well. He creates the most tension & is the best part. Thanklessly he's never credited Rated 2.5/5 Stars •  Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member When a crooked judge is suspected of hiding out in a sanitarium, a private detective gets himself committed to uncover the truth. A little lightweight and unsophisticated, but a fun "poverty row" quickie noir. If you've seen Shock Corridor, it's pretty much the same setup but without as much social commentary. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Fuller drew some inspiration from this film. The actors and the dialogue are a bit clunky, but not too bad. Features Tor Johnson in a small role, most famous for his work in Plan 9 from Outer Space, among other Ed Wood films.
