Alejandro Turdó Hoy Sale Cine When taking a closer look, it doesn’t take too much to realize that the Horror elements present in Beneath Us All are designed to turn the focus onto family violence, mistreat and abuse, while also managing to pull off a rather shocking ending. Rated: 6/10 Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat Beneath Us All is Wallen’s best film to date. From its perfect cast to its deep script, the movie hits everything it aims for and then some. Rated: 10/10 Sep 18, 2023 Full Review Tony Asankomah GhMovieFreak Certainly, "Beneath Us All" undeniably portrays certain imperfections and rough edges characteristic of small-budget indie films. However, it also showcases noticeable improvement compared to the previous collaboration between the director and the writer. Rated: 7/10 Sep 18, 2023 Full Review Federico Furzan Movie-Blogger.com In the very particular universe of indie horror, Harvey Wallen's Beneath Us All is a pretty good example of a filmmaker growing the way he's supposed to. Trina B IN A NUTSHELL: The story is about a teenage girl who is going to age out of the foster care system soon. She finds a Yggdrasil pendant, which releases an evil presence near her foster family’s home. The film was directed by Harley Wallen. Writing credits go to Bret Miller. Film critics have applauded his growth as a filmmaker. Already, the film has been nominated for 9 awards and won a whopping 23 at various film festivals. THINGS I LIKED: The film starts with violent events from centuries prior to secure a spooky Nordic lore. Then, the rest of the movie takes place in the present day. The cast includes some old and new actors who create creepy characters: Sean Whalen, Maria Olsen, and Yan Birch. The kids in the movie did a pretty good job and are adorable. A lot of the actual violence is off screen or seen in silhouettes. I actually appreciate the art of subtlety in that regard. I don’t have to see all of the horror and gore to know it’s happening. The film illustrates different kinds of monsters. The musical score and sound effects make the movie feel like an epic vampire tale. The title is intriguing. After the rolling credits at the end of the movie, the text on the screen assures us that no animals were harmed in the making of this film. THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE: Some of the acting is awkwardly wooden. Some of the transitions are a bit rough. It feels like a low-budget indie movie because it is. Manage your expectations. The nighttime scenes are very dark visually, making it difficult to see what’s going on, especially if you watch this on a small screen. It’s a bit slow-moving. TIPS FOR PARENTS: We see blood splatters on people as they die. A bird gets smashed to death Talk of a divorce Talk of selling Crystal Meth Gambling, alcohol A man hits a teenage girl Profanity, including F-bombs To see my full review, go to my Movie Review Mom YouTube channel! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Scott M Literally the worst acting I've seen in years, don't let the bot ratings fool you this is bad bad bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/24 Full Review Logan D An emotionally abused foster child discovers a pendant and releases a vampire. There was much potential with this low budget effort. I enjoyed the setup of a vampire from Norse culture and the focus on family violence as more monstrous than the monster. However, Whalen and Olsen are given stereotypical characters and there are numerous plot holes. Still, I didn't regret viewing it. I just wanted it to be better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/07/24 Full Review Jamie O Worse then the most worst 80's b movie! I'm not sure what Jeromy was watching? I never once on the edge of my seat. I have no idea how anyone could say this was a good film? Its just goofy. Bad from start to finish. Everything. The sounds, make up, story. Ugg. I'm losing hope in rotten tomatoes reviews. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Jeremy W An exceptional film from start to finish, this movie captivates its audience from the very beginning and keeps them in suspense throughout. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film. It's a must-watch when you have the opportunity. Director Harley Wallen has done an excellent job with this film, shedding light on the dark side of the broken foster system and delivering unexpected twists that leave everyone wondering what's coming next. It's a truly compelling story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/23 Full Review Andrew G Do not watch. Terrible. Worst movie I've ever seen. I like many others got trolled by the fake reviews….
