A.L.Jude P Brainless plot start from the beginning makes a good effort goes in vain Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Trevor B Malevolence 2 was ok, but not that good!!! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/04/23 Full Review Frank M The second film in the Malevolence trilogy is very likely the best. It is also a prequel that provides the backstory of the young killer. Writer/Director Stevan Mena (who wears many hats in the cinematography, scoring, and editing departments as well) creates interesting characters, effective suspense, and poignant tragedy from beginning to end . And Miss Daddario is a truly gorgeous scream queen. This film should be a must-see for slasher/horror fans. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Victor O I want to say right off the bat, like many I believed that this was a stand-alone thriller. But because of advertising, as well as delays, this movie was advertised as a stand-alone but it was the continuation of a horror franchise. All I cared about was seeing Alexandra Daddario as a scream queen. Some time in the past has gone by when a young boy with a severe disability was kidnapped by a psychopathic killer. Several years go by as Allison Miller, a teenage girl lives with her relatives after the death of her parents. All this as the killer motivates his new charge by having him witness his murderous actions. Things come to a head as Allison is confronted by the murderer leading to a horrific conclusion. I came to see Alexandra Daddario and I was satisfied with her appearance. The rest of this movie was disappointing. I did enjoy seeing Michael Biehn as well as a young and adorable Peyton List, but this was mostly an attempt to inject life into a modest horror movie by turning it into a franchise by enhancing its budget and making it with better actors. This was an okay watch, but it didn't satisfy me that much. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review Emilliano Jr S Overlong, horrible acting and wasted talent from 80's icon Michael Biehn. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review C W I thought the trilogy was old school terrifying. Reminded me of the type of horror that was chainsaw massacre. Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Effective atmospherics don't rescue this formulaic slasher flick. Mar 19, 2011 Full Review Paul Brunick New York Times I'd sooner touch a nine-volt battery to my tongue than sit through this film again. Rated: 2/5 Mar 18, 2011 Full Review Nick Pinkerton Village Voice Bereavement -- miraculously as dull as its title -- is neither far gone enough to be funny nor well thought-out enough to be disturbing. Mar 15, 2011 Full Review Scott Weinberg TheHorrorShow Evidence of a group of filmmakers who take their horror seriously. Aug 26, 2015 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures while Bereavement is certainly a slasher, it is also a film about how monsters are made, in which every character, hero and villain alike, is figured as tragic prey to genes and circumstance. Oct 19, 2012 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Palinesque, bland and increasingly silly with oodles of unintentional humor instead of what every horror fan expects: palpable scares.
