deth Berk , greatest of all time . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/23 Full Review james p If you have seen the 1997 anime or read the manga, this trilogy of films covers most of the entire series with new animation but it deserves a watch the battles, and landscapes feel much grander in spectre, especially at the beginning and I can understand the animation can be jarring at times but the story is just superb and very dark. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This trilogy of movies are awesome. The character progression of Guts and the world building truly are Epic. I only wish they kept going with the movies. These are based off of a Manga, and its a real page-turner. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The hybrid animation and battle sequences are astounding, as well as the political intrigue, curtailing the usual outlandish settings of the usual anime for a more grounded and somber approach. Arc 1 does nothing in trying to make a complete story on its own so not being able to advance the story through to its end can be frustrating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not a huge anime fan, but I admit that I've watched a lot of it. The kid in me which loved Saturday morning cartoons has grown into an "adult" who looks for good animation. It does exist, and some of it has been coming from Japan for a few decades now. I would definitely place the Berserk trilogy in the minority of good animation I've found. The animation itself is excellent; fluid and life-like, not polluted with the flashy stuff which appeals to a younger ADD audience. I think the story has issues over the length of the entire trilogy, but the first movie is gritty, compelling and full of interestingly-complex characters. One of my complaints about this genre is the way the stories often turn emotional and soap-opera-like. I know this is characteristic of the genre, but it simply turns me off. Berserk avoids this stereotype for a while, and certainly through most of the first of the trilogy. Overall, this movie and the trilogy in general are entertaining and memorable in a good way. I can't imagine an anime fan finding anything significant to dislike or complain about. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A fun, albeit, clunky adaptation that doesn't have much in character development, but keeps going because of the excellent source material that shines through.
