kish b ★★★★★ Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II – The Battle for Doldrey is the glorious, intoxicating peak before the endless fall, and it is breathtaking. This is the film where everything clicks into place: the 3DCG/2D hybrid looks its absolute best, the battles are colossal (the siege of Doldrey is still one of the most epic, perfectly choreographed sequences in all of anime), and the Band of the Falcon feels genuinely invincible. Watching Guts carve through a hundred men, Griffith outsmart entire armies, and Casca hold the line with unbreakable fire makes you believe, for 92 precious minutes, that dreams can actually come true. The emotional highs are insane. The one-hundred-man fight is pure adrenaline. The quiet campfire scenes and the waterfall moment between Guts and Casca are some of the most tender, earned romance beats in the entire franchise. When Griffith raises that crimson banner on the captured fortress and the Hawks scream his name in victory, you feel on top of the world… right before the movie quietly plants the seeds of everything about to go catastrophically wrong. Susumu Hirasawa’s score soars, Shiro Sagisu brings the thunder, and the animation of the final charge across the battlefield is jaw-dropping even more than a decade later. This is Berserk at its most triumphant, most beautiful, and most cruelly deceptive. It gives you the highest high imaginable so the next film can rip your heart out and show it to you while it’s still beating. Peak Golden Age. Peak tragedy setup. Peak everything. 10/10. Enjoy the dream while it lasts, because hell is only one movie away. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/17/25 Full Review Muichiro T. i love this because of pippin Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/25 Full Review Joe K Berserk is not just a story, it's a visceral experience. Kentaro Miura’s magnum opus is a brutal, emotionally devastating, and visually haunting journey through a dark medieval world corrupted by demonic forces and human ambition. At its heart lies Guts, one of the most complex and compelling protagonists ever written. His journey from a lone mercenary to a man battling against fate itself is nothing short of legendary. The series seamlessly blends horror, high fantasy, tragedy, and philosophical introspection. Its theme, betrayal, trauma, love, loss, and the nature of evil are explored with raw intensity and rare narrative depth. What sets Berserk apart is its refusal to shy away from the darkest corners of the human soul, while still finding space for moments of tenderness, camaraderie, and hope. The art, especially in the manga, is astonishing in detail and scope. Miura’s panels are grand, grotesque, and beautiful all at once. The anime adaptations vary in quality, but the 1997 series stands out for its emotional weight and brooding atmosphere, despite its limited animation. Berserk is not for the faint of heart but for those willing to confront its unflinching darkness, it delivers one of the most unforgettable tales ever told in any medium. It's a brutal masterpiece that continues to inspire creators and devastate audiences worldwide. Rating: 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Will S My brother, Come join me. In battle, we are stronger! (Sub & Dub Version)-(9/10) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/25 Full Review james p Again the same problems occur in my previous review, but the battles do look so much better, the epic scale for "The Battle of Doldrey" really was a guilty pleasure just because of how grandiose it made war look compared to the 97' anime. Though I did notice certain elements being missed out from the manga. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A master piece that shows not only the invisible forces that manipulates humans but also how men should value and master himself in order to be free and fight against the self proclaimed Gods … Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
